Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) has introduced the largest Zaxis-7 model in its extensive super long front excavator range. The ZX490LCH-7 HE16LD with 16m reach has a longer boom and arm and heavier counterweight than the standard ZX490-7 model. It is ideal for excavation work, as well as dredging rivers and lakes, bank maintenance and lighter, slope-finishing tasks. Due to the proportions of the boom and arm, the 49-tonne model can also be used for loading, as trucks can be conveniently positioned close to the machine. Assembled at HCME’s factory in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, this special application machine has been designed to meet the needs of European customers. Read more >>

Antwerp Euroterminal (AET), the biggest multipurpose terminal in Europe, is undergoing a vast energy transformation. Based at Belgium’s Port of Antwerp-Bruges, which is the world’s largest roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) port, AET specializes in different types of cargo and processes including breakbulk, containers, project cargo, heavy lifts, cars and other RoRo units on a daily basis. Two market leaders combine their know-how: Schmitz Cargobull and the US trailer manufacturer Utility Trailer Manufacturer Company LLC have founded a joint venture - "Cargobull North America" (CBNA). As a first step, the partners have developed two transport refrigeration units (TRUs), based on the Schmitz Cargobull S.CU. The 625 Hybrid and 655 MT (Multi Temp) are specially designed to meet the strict emissions requirements of California. The units come equipped with Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect® telematics system, which is exclusively installed in Utility Trailer's refrigerated trailers. Read more >>

Continental Uses Recovered Carbon Black in Solid Tires

Continental continues to step up its activities to ensure a circular economy. Recently, the tire manufacturer added recovered carbon black (rCB) to its newly produced Super Elastic solid tires at its tire plant in Korbach, Germany, thus reducing the use of fossil raw materials and CO2 emissions. Solid tires such as Continental’s SC20+ already contain around 60 percent renewable and recycled materials thanks to their high natural rubber content. By 2050 at the latest, Continental aims to use 100 percent sustainable materials in its tire products. Read more >>
