The first electric Hitachi EX2600-7E ultra-large excavator has been delivered to Montenegro's Pljevlja coal mine, marking a key advancement in production modernization and emission reduction in southeast Europe. The 250-tonne electric excavator, supported by a 860kW motor, is designed for operational efficiency and low maintenance costs, differing from traditional diesel models. Its deployment represents a significant step in aligning Montenegro with EU environmental standards, as it leverages local electricity sourced from the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, reducing the mine's reliance on diesel.
