Skanska builds hydroelectric power plant in Klæbu municipality, Norway, for NOK 507M, about SEK 500M
Skanska has signed a NOK 507M contract with Statkraft to construct the new Svean hydroelectric power plant in Klæbu municipality, Trøndelag County, Norway. The project, slated to start in January 2025 and conclude in December 2027, involves building a new plant inside a mountain and excavating 1.6 kilometers of tunnels, while also reusing a 3-kilometer transfer tunnel from Selbusjøen to Svean with a new intake. The new facility will replace the existing 1940s plant and is expected to generate around 130 GWh annually, enough to power approximately 6,000 households. Read more >>
Focussing on CO2 reduction: Eight large machines shipped by barge from Straubing to Charleston
SENNEBOGEN Maschinenfabrik , in collaboration with Karl-Groß, successfully transported eight large machines, including SENNEBOGEN 855 and 870 models, from Straubing to Charleston, South Carolina, via barge, focusing on CO2 reduction. The barge transport involved dismantling and reassembling counter-weights of the machines weighing between 70 and 105 tons. Utilizing a tandem hoist with two cranes for loading ensured efficient weight distribution of the 700 tons of machinery. This method achieved a 75% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to road transport, equivalent to 49 tons of CO2 saved. The route included stops in Antwerp and Zeebrugge, with Charleston as a key trans-shipment point for SENNEBOGEN LLC. The success of this environmentally friendly and cost-effective transport method has led SENNEBOGEN to continue planning future shipments via barge. Read more >>
