Night-time paving against the backdrop of a German fairytale castle

The Vögele SUPER 1800-5 X paver, manufactured by the WIRTGEN Group, was employed for the night-time resurfacing of the access road to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Neuschwanstein Castle, to minimize disturbance to the 1.4 million annual visitors. Utilizing its integrated Light Package Plus, the paver provided powerful illumination without the need for additional lighting equipment, speeding up setup time. The SmartWheel steering system facilitated precise paving in challenging curves, ensuring high-quality results, while the AB 600 extending screed offered efficient heating and quiet operation. This project, conducted by Geiger Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH & Co. KG, involved milling approximately 7,000 m² of asphalt surface and laying 800 tonnes of surface course material over three nights.
