Wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders with new engine technology now also available in LP models

In the four to six-ton class, Weidemann is presenting two new wheel loaders with the latest engine technology that meet the exhaust emission level IIIB.

With the new so-called Low Position Models (LP), Weidemann GmbHH is presenting two new wheel loaders at Agritechnica 2015, which are offered alternatively with oscillating suspension units (3080LP and 4080LP) or as a telescopic wheel loader (3080LPT und 4080LPT). The new loaders replace the successful models 3070 CXLP and 4070 CXLP and are designed for medium to large agricultural operations and for horse ranches. A major reason for the introduction of the new models is the guidelines of the European exhaust emission standard level IIIB, which also stipulate drastically reduced exhaust values for wheel loaders in agriculture. The engines of the new machines are adapted to this.

Weidemann has been successfully offering low position models for years. The lower seating position of the operator allows for a lower overall height of the machine. This makes low passages no problem, even with a permanently mounted operator’s canopy or a cabin. Due to this LP design, however, the driver’s cabin or cab cannot be tilted. LP model serviceability is achieved through various inspection ports. The LP design can thus be implemented at a lower price and Weidemann can offer the design, based on price, onto the market as an entry-level model.

In addition to the engine technology, a new operator position and driver’s cabin design were developed for the machines. One can optionally fit out the LP models with three different cabins and two different operator’s canopies. The high cabin already allows for the option of two doors, which can be opened by 180° and locked in place. The cabin is also available in a low version so one can specifically pass beneath varying clearance heights. The console in the optional comfort console is fully modified: joystick operation has been optimally designed according to the latest ergonomic principles. An air-conditioning system is optionally available for this cabin. The 3rd control circuit is optionally controllable by joystick, which appreciably improves operating comfort. A high-flow volume flow increase is also already available in the LP models. In order to comply with the new exhaust limit values, the use of additional technology, such as the installation of a particulate filter and an optimization of the cooling capacity through a cooled exhaust gas recirculation, was necessary compared to the time-tested and proven models. As an additional benefit, however, the use of new components also resulted in an improvement to the engine’s efficiency. This made it possible to reduce the fuel consumption of engines 60 hp and above by around five per cent.

The new electronic engine control also allows for an even more dynamic use of the machines, because the engines now react even more quickly to the accelerator pedal. The new model names make it clear that the new loaders differ from their predecessors not only in the engine technology under the hood, but also in numerous other points, right down to the design of the engine hood. Due to the installation of additional components for exhaust after-treatment and for cooling, the space under the hood no longer sufficed. The 3080 and 4080 LPs therefore received the modern and dynamic engine cover design, which was launched on the market in 2013 by Weidemann.
