Xylem Inc. named Steven Leung Senior Vice President and President, Emerging Markets

Xylem Inc. (NYSE: XYL), a leading global water technology company dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging water issues, today announced that Steven Leung will join the company as Senior Vice President and President, Emerging Markets, effective April 1, 2015.  In this newly created position, Leung will lead the company’s commercial operations across the emerging markets, including China, Greater Asia, India, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, as well as Australia and New Zealand, and he will report directly to Xylem President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Decker. Leung will also serve as a member of the company’s Senior Leadership Team and will be based in Shanghai, China.

“The emerging markets encompass some of the fastest-growing areas of our business, and Steve is well-positioned to help us maximize that growth,” said Decker.  “He joins Xylem with a strong operating and leadership background that includes more than two decades of global management and commercial experience. Steve also brings a deep knowledge and understanding of the emerging markets, which are a strategic priority in Xylem’s growth plan. We welcome Steve to Xylem and look forward to his contributions.”

Leung, 58, joins Xylem from Pentair, where he most recently served as Vice President, Global Sales for Pentair’s Valves and Controls business. In that role, he led the integration of four global vertical sales teams into a single global function, and his role was expanded to include leadership of the global commercial services function.  Prior to that, he held senior executive roles at Tyco International, including Vice President and General Manager of Global Process Industry Vertical and President of its Flow Control business in Asia. Leung also held executive roles at Agilent Technologies and General Electric.

Leung earned undergraduate degrees in management and electronic engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma City University.
