For the reconstruction of a driveway in Dorfhain near Dresden, Volker Hartlepp e.K. expert in the field of demolition, underground and roadwork, relied on the compact excavator B7 Sigma by Yanmar Construction Equipment Europe S.A.S. (Yanmar CEE). The machine had been acquired from the Yanmar dealer SK Baumaschinen GmbH. The excavator convinced with its special feature: the Sigma boom concept. It enables the machine to work very precisely and efficiently – even when spaces are restricted on construction sites. With the B7 Sigma, the driveway, located on a slope, could be completed within only two weeks.

With its multiple attachment options, the excavator can be used for all operations: Equipped with a hydraulic breaker, it first broke the old driveway’s concrete layer with a thickness of 40 centimetres. Then, the machine excavated the soil with a digging bucket. The particular difficulty on this job-site: The incline was very steep, the driveway itself is surrounded by the garage, the house wall and a narrow road. No problem for the B7 Sigma. It always keeps a stable position. Thanks to the center-mounted boom, the B7 Sigma combines the unique advantages of mini and large excavators. In this way, the machine always works within the track – like a mini excavator. At the same time, it is able to precisely place heavy loads – just like a large excavator. Furthermore, it acts with high flexibility and accuracy thanks to its three piece boom. Thus, it can be used for the delicate works next to the house wall and in very confined areas.

After the concrete and the soil had been loaded onto the truck, the Yanmar excavator filled the driveway with gravel and lifted the concrete supporting angles putting them into their right position. Finally, the machine filled the mineral mixture into the ground and distributed it. For completing the job, the cobblestones were paved into the driveway construction.

The demolition, underground and roadwork expert Volker Hartlepp e.K. has been a long-time customer of Yanmar dealer SK Baumaschinen from Dresden. Managing Director Volker Hartlepp considers the purchase of the Yanmar B7 Sigma compact excavator a profitable investment: “We really like utilising the B7 Sigma for the garden and landscaping sector because of its flexibility. It is deployed in public green spaces as well as in private gardens” he says.

“I am glad that we have found SK Baumaschinen. They benefit from a good reputation in the region of Dresden – the long-time experience of Managing Director Sven Kaliner is well recognised here. He and his young team are a prime address for us”, says Frank Thoss, Area Sales Manager Yanmar Germany and Poland.

The opinion of dealers and users is of great importance to Yanmar. The company aims at continuously optimising and enhancing their products. At this year’s Bauma, the new edition of the Yanmar excavator B7 Sigma has been introduced: the B7 Sigma-6. Productivity, manoeuvrability and the precision of the machine have been further improved with this model. Through the articulation of the boom, the Sigma concept, which is unique in Europe, allows for a sidelong movement of the arm and its attachment without having to pivot the top frame. The special design of the boom enhances the precision of the B7 Sigma-6, especially in areas with restricted accessibility. It also enables an optimal visibility on the construction site. Additionally, the B7 Sigma-7 is equipped with the newest generation (Y-HARMONIZER) of Yanmar TNV engines, which is already compliant with the proposed EU Stage 5 requirements. This means, that the emission of ultrafine particles is reduced and the machine does not need any further modifications to meet future regulations.

SK Baumaschinen has been a Yanmar dealer since 2014. Yanmar’s network consists of over 160 dealers and importers throughout Europe. The company offers them high quality machines in the compact segment: from high performance mini excavators, compact excavators and carriers in different sizes through to a new series of wheel loaders.
