Yanmar to launch new engines at bauma

  • Reduced fuel consumption

  • Stage 5 ready

  • Practically maintenance free DPF

  • Higher power density

  • More compact

Three new turbocharged and aftercooled engines will be launched by Yanmar at this year’s bauma trade show in Munich, Germany.

The trio join the company’s existing TNV family of common rail engines which are EPA Tier 4 final, EU Stage 3B and FOEN (Switzerland) certified. These are the engines, of which there are already over 120,000 in the market running for many hours trouble free, that Yanmar will offer for Stage 5 exhaust emissions regulations from 2019.

The engines have already found favour with construction equipment manufacturers, especially for excavator and wheeled loader applications because of their lower fuel consumption, higher power density and a DPF which practically needs no maintenance.

The new 1.6, 2.1 and 3.1-Litre engines feature Bosch and Denso common rail direct fuel injection systems, full authority electronics and offer rated powers ranging from 33.3 to 88.4kW

With the addition of the turbocharged-aftercooled engines, the TNV CR engine range now consists of nine models.

“This is a major addition to the TNV range offering a host of benefits to equipment makers, not least enhanced fuel efficiency and compactness, requiring less space for installation than equivalent engines with the same output,” said Mr Gert Maris, Senior Area Manager, Industrial Power Train Department, Yanmar Europe.

He added: “Another key benefit is that, through Yanmar’s unique exhaust gas management technology for the Diesel Particulate Filter, extremely long maintenance intervals of 6000 hours – effectively the lifetime of most machines – can be achieved, thus eliminating operator downtime.”

The engines are also suitable for other applications including industrial, landscaping and municipal applications and agricultural tractors.

The three new engines are the three-cylinder 3TNV86CHT (33.3kW at 2600 rpm); four-cylinder 4TNV86CHT (48.5kW at 2600 rpm) and the four-cylinder 4TNV94FHT (69.8kW at 2000 rpm:77.2 kW at 2200 rpm and 88.4kW at 2500 rpm).
