ABB outfits Rhaetian Railways train to highlight partnership, technology

ABB has outfitted a Rhaetian Railways’ Allegra train with its red-and-white ABB logo to highlight 100 years of cooperation between the two companies. Beneath the Allegra’s new exterior colors, however, ABB traction converters and transformers are also at work to ensure the train is up to the demanding conditions in the Swiss Alps, with their freezing temperatures, steep grades and direct-current and challenging dual electricity systems. ABB has a close technology partnership with Stadler Rail, the Swiss manufacturer of Allegra, to ensure these trains fulfill these rigorous requirements – not only for their home Swiss market, but for rail networks around the world.
