A reliable partner with innovative drive and worldwide customer proximity

Ammann is utilising its innovative spirit and entrepreneurship to position itself as a global provider of ecological, safe and practical products for road construction. The family-owned Swiss company is now in its 144th year and has been under the management of the 6th generation since January 2013. The company is currently investing in developing new markets and expanding sales and services in its core markets. Ammann will emerge from the current uncertain economic situation as a Global Brand strengthened by a healthy growth strategy and the targeted cultivation of new market regions. This year will see Ammann present a number of new mixing plant concepts and a completely revised programme of compaction machines and asphalt pavers at the Bauma.

Ammann will present its extensive product portfolio with many new developments in the area of compaction machines, asphalt pavers and mixing plants at the Bauma 2013 from 15–21 April. The focus lies on the market launch of the Euro3B (Tier4) motorised compaction machines in the field of heavy ride-on rollers, as well as completely new mixing plant concepts for high proportions of reclaimed asphalt or highly mobile applications.

The long-established company will show its customers from around the world a selection of these latest developments and innovations across the product range along the «Road of Innovation» on the largest ever Ammann stand of 4000 m2.

Despite persistent and economically challenging conditions, Ammann will continue to expand its global market position and open new markets. Following the foundation of subsidiaries in South Africa and Bulgaria, the establishment of a proprietary assembly company with an incorporated sales and service organisation in Brazil and the expansion of activities in south-east Asia, Ammann is planning a joint venture with India's market leader in
the field of road building equipment for 2013. Together with existing successful activities in the core European market, the Middle East, Russia, the CIS states, China and North America, these latest expansions put Ammann in even closer proximity to its customers.

Asphalt mixing plants for every market demand
Ammann is focused on driving the further development of process engineering and process technology to meet the ever-growing demands from markets in various regions with regard to the use of reclaimed asphalt, emission reductions and plant mobility. Today, the world market leader is the only manufacturer with the plant technology to produce new asphalt from 100% recycled asphalt. Ammann also offers appropriate recycling upgrades for every specific demand raised by customers and the markets.

This has resulted in completely new and innovative mixing plant concepts such as the Universal HRT (High Recycling Technology), a plant concept presented by Ammann that consistently aligns the entire asphalt production process with the maximum possible use of reclaimed asphalt. Or the UniBatch range that combines high flexibility, extendibility and a large selection of variants with modularity, energy efficiency and reduced emission values.

Ammann is also setting new standards in the field of mobility with two new plant types. The EasyBatch 140 range for batch asphalt production and the Prime 140 for continuous production processes both stand for maximum compact mobility coupled with the greatest possible output of 140 tonnes per hour.

All of the Ammann plant ranges share the same core concept: all components in Ammann plants that have an influence on the quality of asphalt production are proprietary developments manufactured at Ammann facilities in Switzerland (core components) and the downstream facilities in Germany, Italy, China and Brazil.

New technological developments in the field of control and routing systems, low temperature asphalt, energy consumption, wear materials and alternative fuels make it possible for Ammann to offer its customers a decisive ecological difference for both new plants and plant upgrades whilst guaranteeing the greatest possible productivity
at any time and anywhere around the world.

Ammann compaction machines and asphalt pavers meet the strictest requirements and standards
The first half of 2013 will see Ammann undertake its biggest market launch to date in the field of heavy compaction machinery. The implementation of the latest engine technology throughout the product range of ride-on rollers will be accompanied by a complete review of the entire product range with regard to industrial design, ergonomics and operation. All single drum rollers, pneumatic tyred rollers, articulated and pivot-steering rollers and tandem rollers are equipped with Tier4i Euro 3B or Tier 4 interim engines to meet the strictest emission standards and the modern demands placed on ergonomics and design.

The intrinsic and extrinsic values of Ammann’s entire machine product range have been completely revised for 2013.

Ammann will present a completely revised driver's cab concept for heavyweight rollers. Panorama cabs with allround glazing provide the driver with an ideal view of the working area and roller drums. Redesigned operator platforms offer outstanding operator convenience and safety as well as a comfortable, cleanly laid out and safe workplace. Ammann has impressively succeeded in aligning its entire range of rollers with the latest requirements
and is setting new standards in one of the most extensive development projects it has ever undertaken.

Ensuring the integration of the intelligent compaction measurement and control system ACE with all of the popular GPS providers is a matter of a course. The new Rammax 1575 CI articulated trench roller developed by Ammann is the articulated counterpart to the proven Rammax 1515 skid-steered trench roller. This product underscores Ammann's position as a specialist for trench rollers and enables the company to offer the market the world's most comprehensive range with both steering concepts.

Customers around the world find Ammann asphalt pavers – such as the AFW 500 E seen here on a building site in Lesotho – very compelling.

Ammann's investments in its new asphalt paver range have led to pleasing market share increases in various regions. Ammann's customary high product quality, robustness and reliability even under arduous operating conditions and the efficiency of its pavers have convinced customers around the globe. Market developments in Russia, Latin America and Australia in particular have succeeded expectations.

GlobalConcrete – the concrete mixing plant for global use
Ammann uses its sales channels as a globally active full-line provider to expand its position in the segment for concrete mixing plants in selected markets. Ammann has achieved considerable success both in Switzerland and, more recently, abroad with its redeveloped EcoMix and GlobalConcrete ranges, and has received widely recognised market acknowledgement for the new plant concepts.

The core of these two ranges is the EcoModule with the proven Amix twin-shaft paddle mixer that is pre-assembled and tested at the manufacturing plant. The module is incorporated in the GlobalConcrete mixing plant and stands for the world-wide production of top-quality concrete. Equipped with the latest as1 control technology and designed in consistent alignment with market requirements, GlobalConcrete meets every requirement placed on modern concrete production.

Ammann strengthens its global market position through a partnership in India
At the end of 2012, Ammann and Gujarat Apollo Industries Ltd., India's market leader in the field of road construction equipment, announced the conclusion of a binding cooperation agreement. The acquisition of a 70%
share in Apollo's plant and machinery division heralds the entrance of the Ammann Group to India's market for road building equipment. Ammann plans to invest in Apollo's core business of asphalt mixing plants, asphalt pavers, bitumen sprayers and compaction machines. The joint venture with India's market leader impressively underscores Ammann's global growth strategy.

The partnership with Apollo is aimed at expanding the market position in the field of asphalt mixing plants, asphalt pavers and compaction machines in India and the neighbouring markets. Strong growth is forecast for India over the coming years due to the government's political alignment and the current development of the road network throughout the country.

Ammann has found a partner in Apollo that has been very successful in the Indian market for many years, is managed by members of the founding family in key positions and upholds the same values towards customers, partners and employees as Ammann. Furthermore, Apollo has developed a wide network of sales and servicing subsidiaries in India; its products will be ideal supplements to the Ammann range for world-wide markets.

The joint venture Ammann Apollo will be responsible for the sale of the Ammann product range in the market region of India, whilst the Ammann Group continues to operate on a global basis.

Ammann builds new plant in Brazil in record-breaking time
The first asphalt mixing plants are already being assembled at the Ammann plant even though the final founding documents were only signed at the end of November. Ammann continues to pursue its expansion strategy to grow from an international to a global provider of road construction equipment and has invested in a new plant with an assembly area of 5,000 m2 and 300 m2 of office space in Gravataí, situated in the agglomeration of the southern Brazilian metropolis of Porto Alegre. The mid-term strategy is to produce several dozens of asphalt mixing plants of the Prime 140 type at the plant each year alongside pavers and compaction machinery. The Brazilian unit is responsible for marketing the entire product range in Latin America, i.e. from Mexico across the entire Caribbean to Tierra del Fuego at the southern-most tip of Argentina, and will also provide customer care through its own Service Team.

The 6th generation now manages the Ammann Group
Hans-Christian Schneider in the sixth generation took over the management of the entrepreneurial Ammann and Schneider-Ammann family businesses as CEO of the Ammann Group in January 2013. He is the son of Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, who managed the Ammann group of companies in the 5th generation for 29 years and was voted into the Swiss Federal Council in September 2010. Hans-Christian Schneider has taken over the reins from former CEO Ulrich Meyer, who had held the position since September 2010.

Hans-Christian Schneider, a graduate engineer with additional qualifications in the field of management, was appointed as assistant to the group's management in 2009 and became deputy CEO of the Ammann Group in January 2012. He has also been a member of the supervisory board since 2010 and will continue to maintain this function after adopting responsibility for the operational management of the Ammann Group.

The transfer of management of the Ammann Group to the 6th generation will not have any impact on the existing corporate strategy: the company's motto «Productivity Partnership for a Lifetime» is as good as set in stone and is supported by the central values of independence, substainability and credibility to the best possible benefit of all customers.
