AIRCART-type large-width seed drill concept for very large farms

True to its objective of meeting the demands of all agricultural farms, KUHN will unveil its « large-width » seed drill concept at the Agritechnica 2017. The tool has been developed to meet the requirements of very large farms in the CIS States and particularly Russia and Ukraine as well as other markets such as Australia.

The concept is based on simplicity and robustness in order to cope with seeding operations that can last up to a month non-stop, and often in remote areas away from towns and service points. Clearly these seed drills are over-sized for the European market, the smallest working width being 12m. The basic concept includes a trailed seeding bar with two very high capacity hoppers.

Two seeding bar versions are available: « Min-till » and « No Till ». The two bars come with the same seeding unit that ensures great seed placement: a parallelogram-mounted double disc with tilted gauge to close the furrow and press the seeds down. The « No Till » model’s seeding unit has a coulter to open the furrow and improve soil penetration.

The seeding bar is linked to a rear-trailed double hopper (2 x 6 500 litres) which provides the very high autonomy needed for very large land areas. The distribution system makes it possible to fertilise while seeding or to use the whole hopper volume for seeds.
