ALE has successfully completed the second stage of a land transportation project from Ersai yard in Kazakhstan to Tashkent Thermal Power Plant in Uzbekistan.
ALE transported a 140t steam turbine and 180t generator via convoy using a total of 34 axle lines of conventional trailers with three heavy duty prime movers.
Last year ALE transported the first and heaviest piece of cargo for the project, a 280t gas turbine, on the challenging 2,200km route through the Mangystau desert.
Ali Yoldashov, ALE’s Regional Operations Manager, said: “ALE was awarded the contract for the second stage after the client was impressed with the project management of the complex and challenging route and the professionalism shown during the first stage last year.
“The high equipment utilisation of ALE’s on-site facilities resulted in minimal standby time and a timely delivery.”
It took one month to transport the steam turbine and generator to the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant.
