Bauer returns to the world-famous Palm Jumeirah as contract awarded for PALM360 project

The Emirate of Dubai is constantly attracting attention with spectacular construction projects, unique design concepts and exceptional superlatives. Not only does it feature the world's tallest building at present – the 828 m-high Burj Khalifa – in the city on the Persian Gulf, it is also renowned worldwide for the artificially built island of Palm Jumeirah with its villas, holiday homes and hotels. The BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH subsidiary in Dubai was already playing a key role in the construction of the island in 2004. Vibro techniques were used to consolidate over 10 million m³ of sand and the subsoil was stabilized for the future development.

At the beginning of October, the first contracts for the new PALM360 project on Palm Jumeirah were awarded by the developer Nakheel during the Expo Real trade show in Munich. In the course of this, Bauer Spezialtiefbau was commissioned with the specialist foundation engineering works for the luxurious hotel and residential project – and thus continues its work on the world-famous, award-winning island.

The project, estimated at around 5.6 million euro, includes the implementation of around 600 foundation piles to a depth of 54 m to stabilize the ground for the construction of the 260 m long building, the future tallest building, on Palm Jumeirah. The project consists of the construction of the luxury hotel "Raffles The Palm Dubai Hotel" as well as the residential development "Raffles Residences PALM360". Once completed, the complex will have the world's largest sky pool which will connect the two building towers at a height of 170 m. There are also numerous restaurants, wellness facilities and a 500,000 m² landscape garden with various luxury and leisure offers planned.

The PALM360 will be located on the western side of Palm Jumeirah’s crescent and will offer a total of 125 hotel rooms as well as 331 luxury residences including of 16 penthouses with living space of up to 12,000 m². Every penthouse will also have its own infinity pool, a fitness room, home cinema and, as promised by the name, a 360° panoramic view of Dubai and the Persian Gulf. Completion of the project is planned for 2021.
