Bergmann 2060 plus: Hatchback dumper with added safety

Meppen: "Growth" in the flexible Bergmann dumpers: Bergmann Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG introduces the new hatchback dumper 2060 plus to the public for the first time at the bauma 2013 in Munich. The 2060 plus is the first wheel dumper with a unique protective roof design, which makes it possible to reduce the transport height to 2,550 mm in just a few simple steps. In addition, the new dumper series has a sprung rear axle, thereby increasing driving comfort and the transport capacity significantly. The drive power refers to the compact 6-tonner from a Cummins diesel engine that meets level 3b emissions standards. The new Bergmann hatchback dumper of the plus-series combines a high level of safety, comfort, and efficiency.

Unique protective roof for increased safety in all weather conditions

As the only dumper manufacturer in European, Bergmann offers in its plus-series a lowerable and tested ROPS-/FOPS protective roof. The new protective roof design provides for either a mechanical or an electrical lowering of the protective roof to a transport height of just 2,550 mm. This provides Bergmann customers with the possibility of a simple transport of the dumper with mounted protective roof on the conventional dumper truck or platform truck. The time-consuming dismantling of the protective roof or transportation on a low-bed truck is thereby eliminated, resulting in savings in freight and handling costs.

Besides the high safety effect of ROPS-/FOPS-roof, the driver also benefits from the effective protection provided by roof against weather and environmental influences such as dust, rain and snow provides. The modularly designed protective roof can be upgraded into a fully-fledged cabin as needed. The accessories for a front, side and rear window shields and a driver's door are available. Operation is possible only with protective roof and front windshield. Thus, the latest generation of dumpers can be operated reliably even under the most adverse weather conditions. Weather-related downtimes of the vehicles become therefore a thing of the past.

The new driver protective roof opens up completely new applications for dumpers such as winter maintenance and municipal transportation. With ROPS-/FOPS-protective roof, the new Bergmann plus-series also meets the requirements of the Machinery Directive for compact dumpers with an operating weight of over 4,000 kg.

More productivity and driving comfort

Even in the compact dumpers, Bergmann sets new standard of driving comfort: Thus, in addition to the protective roof, the operator's platform of the 2060 plus is also designed with the most modern controls and the vehicle framework is constructed in such way that the rear axle is spring loaded. With the multi-function joystick, the operator works without work fatigue and steers the "rotate" and "tilt"  trough functions as well as "fast", "slow", "forward" and "backward"  driving functions with ease - resulting in improved handling and greater driving comfort. The suspension system shows its sustainable effect especially on uneven construction site roads. Quick, hard blows are absorbed so effectively that the operator can easily maintain comparatively high speeds. The system enables an approximately 20% higher transport speed and thus a higher material handling. Bergmann thus provides a transportation solution that is efficient for the user as well as comfortable for the operator.

New drive technology

Bergmann 2060 plus is powered  by a powerful 4-cylinder Cummins diesel engine with 63 kW/86 hp, which complies with the current emission guidelines (Tier 4 Interim / Step 3B). The powerful hydrostatic four-wheel drive with automotive control is optimally adapted to the engine and chassis, and thus ensures a smooth, continuous drive of the machine in both gears.

With the modern drive concept, the machine easily achieves speed of 30 km / h on the road. In addition, the self-locking differential, built-in the axes- with a locking factor increase of 45%, increase the off-road capability and creates applications, which are not otherwise possible  with comparable dumpers. The new 2060 plus also uses the hydraulic oil bath disc brakes, which have been favoured by Bergmann for years and which act on all four wheels, providing the vehicle with safety and reliability even in a the limits. It operates perfectly in all weather conditions and holds the vehicle reliably at its intended position even on steep slopes.

For added Security

The user-friendly operator's platform was designed so that the driver has an excellent panoramic view of the machine and its environment. All instruments and operating controls are ergonomically designed and are in the field of vision of the driver. Newly installed plastic hoods and coverings ensure an excellent sound absorption and low noise emissions. The safety design of the Bergman dumper, tested by the BG-Bau, is also implemented consistently in 2060. For purposes of accident prevention, the generously designed access to the operator's platform is located not over the "articulated joint" danger zone, but rather over the rear of the machine. As with the 2090 R, in the case of 2060 plus great value is set on clarity and agility. The rear of the 2060 plus is about 30 cm shorter and allows the driver an excellent view of the road when driving backwards.

Even in the case of 2060 plus, Bergmann was not contented with complying with regulatory requirements. The family business from Meppen thinks ahead - and makes a valuable contribution to the health of the driver with the driver protective roof design, the axle suspension, and the safe access area of the 2060 plus and increases efficiency in the construction site transportation.

Also available for rental: As of May 2013, the new 2060 plus models are also available as part of the Bergmann rental fleet.
