Bobcat Launches New Range of Rigid Frame Telehandlers

Backed by a three year warranty as standard, a new range of rigid frame telehandlers has been launched by Bobcat for the construction and rental industries.

Manufactured at the company’s plant at Pontchâteau (Loire Atlantique) in France, Bobcat now offers a choice of 11 new telehandler models for the construction/rental markets covering maximum lifting capacities between 2.6 and 4.1 tonne with lifting heights from 6 to 18 m.

For markets such as Europe, where emissions are highly regulated, high performance is ensured by the new Bobcat D34 Stage IV/Tier 4 Final compliant diesel engine developed in-house.

They are designated using a new naming system showing lifting capacity/lifting height performance at a glance:

  • The TL26.60 and TL30.60 compact telescopic loaders

  • The TL35.70, T35.105, T35.105L and T36.120SL middle lift telehandlers

  • The T35.130S and T35.140S rental industry-oriented telehandlers

  • The T35.130SLP, T41.140SLP and T40.180SLP high lift telehandlers

The Bobcat D34 Stage IV Engine

The Bobcat D34 Stage IV engine has been developed and manufactured internally specifically for use in the company’s new generation Stage IV rigid frame telehandlers for highly regulated markets in EMEA.  This has resulted in optimised performance throughout the range.  The compactness of the D34 engine, combined with a new styled low profile engine hood improves visibility on the engine side, which is important for material handling applications.

The Stage IV engine is available in two different sizes:

  • A 55.2 kW (75 HP) engine model offering cost efficient operation, without Diesel Engine Fluid (DEF) injection and involving only a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) as an after-treatment technology.

  • A 74.5 kW (100 HP) model for heavy operations, with DOC and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) with DEF injection after-treatment technologies.

These engines share the same electronic fuel injection, High Pressure Common Rail technology, turbo-charged air management and Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation for lower emissions and do not require the use of Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) technology.

The new generation telehandlers also incorporate several new features such as an automatic parking brake with an intuitive operation similar to those used in the automotive industry, providing greater safety and control.

Already available as standard on the TL26.60, TL30.60 and TL35.70 models covering lifting heights up to 7 m, another new feature is Bobcat’s ECO fuel saving mode which is also now incorporated on the larger Bobcat powered telehandlers with lifting heights of 10 m and above, encompassing all the models from the T35.105 to the top-of-the-range T40.180SLP telehandler.

The ECO system is actuated simply by pressing a button on the dashboard and maintains optimum hydraulic performance without using the engine’s full power, adjusting the main machine features to produce a balance between top performance and providing the best performance/fuel consumption ratio.  Construction companies and rental customers will appreciate this feature for the additional fuel savings it provides, combined with the excellent lifting capacities on Bobcat telehandlers.

As well as the automatic parking brake and the ECO mode, the advanced features include an optional air dual suspension seat, an optional auto fan inversion, a rotating beacon/back-up alarm as standard and cushion retract on the three TL models.  The new optional fan system with automatic inversion is electronically controlled to adjust rotation speed depending on the temperature, which results in energy savings.

From their comfortable mechanical or air suspension seat, the operator is provided with an ergonomic array of machine controls all within easy reach and including a forward/reverse (FNR) control button on the joystick; a digital display; an adjustable steering wheel and an integrated airflow solution.

Other important performance aspects of the new range include:

On the TL26.60 and TL30.60, these are available with two different overall machine heights with a cab which can be mounted in two different ways – in a low position that results in the very low 2.1 m height or a higher position to optimise visibility.

On the TL35.70, replacing the TL470, there is an improved load chart providing an additional 500 kg (3500 kg) of lifting capacity at the maximum lifting height (6.97 m).

There are also a number of tried and tested smart operating features still offered as standard:

SMS (Speed Management System), which allows the travel speed to be adjusted independently of the engine speed.

SHS (Smart Handling System), which allows the speed of the boom movements (lifting, telescoping and tilting) to be adjusted, depending on the type of work being carried out.

AFM (Auxiliary Flow Management), which allows the hydraulic output to be adjusted to match attachment requirements and to set a continuous flow.

FCS (Fast Connect System), which provides quick and easy interchange of hydraulic attachments via an integrated pressure-release system.
