BvL: Even more efficient thanks to innovative control on the 3-speed powershift transmission

• BvL introduces the Powershift 3X, a new 3-speed powershift transmission for feed mixers up to 46 m³.

The new Powershift 3X transmission from BvL is characterised by convenient operation and considerable power savings.

With its new 3-speed powershift transmission ‘Powershift-3X’, feeding technology manufacturer Bernard van Lengerich Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG (BvL) is launching an innovative drive solution for feed mixers with a volume of up to 46 m³. The system was developed for high loads and impresses with a power transmission of up to 293 kW (400 hp), electro-hydraulic shifting and convenient operation.

‘This development combines power, efficiency and user-friendliness. The new transmission automatically adapts to the respective working situation, thereby noticeably reducing the strain on the driver,’ explains Markus Postmeier, Head of Design and Development at BvL.

Simple operation, intelligent control

The gearbox offers three gears plus neutral. A selector button allows electro-hydraulic gear shifting without interrupting the power flow. Sensors continuously monitor the speed and ensure that automatic shifting occurs at the right moment – for example, when starting and loading. The intelligent control system also allows the transmission to shift down automatically if the load in the mixer becomes too heavy for the tractor.

Typical feeding sequences with integrated Powershift-3X:

• Mixing in 2nd gear, automatic downshifting when the load is heavy;

• Start-up of the full mixer wagon for feeding in 1st gear, cleaning in 3rd gear;

• After a freely adjustable mixing time has elapsed, the transmission automatically shifts to neutral to prevent unnecessary re-mixing.

The automatic re-mixing time and intelligent control not only make operation easier, but also significantly reduce fuel consumption.

The design of the transmission means that little waste heat is generated during operation. Another advantage is that the large-volume housing does not require separate oil cooling – as practical applications show.
