CLAAS Presents First Chopping Transport Wagon

CLAAS continues to make significant investments in the loader wagon product segment. Last summer, the company introduced a new product to the segment in the form of the CARGOS 8000 combi-wagon. This summer, the company followed up with the new CARGOS 9000 with increased loading volume just in time for its anniversary celebrations to mark "50 years of loader wagons from Bad Saulgau". At the Agritechnica trade fair, CLAAS is now presenting its first wagon solely for transporting choppings – the CARGOS 700 – thus completing its forage harvesting product range.

The CLAAS plant for forage harvesting technology in Bad Saulgau, Germany, has been developing and manufacturing loader wagons for 50 years. In 2009, the company achieved a major development step with the CARGOS 9000 and entered the ever-growing combi-wagon segment. Its smaller brother, the CARGOS 8000, was then introduced last year with its many innovative features. During the development process, the requirements of a pure chopping transport wagon were also taken into consideration. Accordingly, the CARGOS 700 has the same stable frame design and a solid, bolted body like that of the combi-wagons. The body has the same conical opening towards the rear and the front panel has merely been inclined 30 degrees to the front for the increased loading volumes of up to 51 m³ and for improved unloading. The scraper floor is, as usual, hot-dip galvanised and its drive is integrated into the C-profile for protection on both sides. A two-speed scraper floor drive is available as an option.

CLAAS has also incorporated the modular running gear components and tyre variants from the combi-wagon. There is a wide range of equipment options, including tandem or tridem running gear with mechanical or hydraulic suspension and tyres up to 30.5" in size. With the CARGOS 700 and CARGOS 9000, CLAAS is offering tridem versions with steered trailing axles for the first time. The hydraulic drawbar is standard equipment and can optionally be equipped with a suspension system. Lowering the drawbar is useful when performing the first chop of a field, while raising the drawbar facilitates quick and complete unloading of the wagon on the silo. Two discharge rollers are available optionally for even more uniform unloading. These can be quickly and easily installed and removed as on the CARGOS 8000/9000.

The wagon is operated without a terminal by three double-acting control devices and a single-acting control device on the tractor. For long days of harvesting through into the night, an LED lighting package is available in addition to the standard work lamps.

The CARGOS 700 will be available for the 2016 harvest in three models with loading volumes of 36.5 to 51 m³.
