CLAAS presents the new TUCANO 560 with APS HYBRID threshing system

CLAAS is expanding its successful TUCANO combine harvester range with the addition of a new powerful but compact 560 model.

Just like the TUCANO 570, the TUCANO 560 features the tried-and-tested APS HYBRID SYSTEM, which combines the tangential APS threshing system with ROTO PLUS residual grain separation, resulting in a high throughput and particularly careful straw handling.

Higher throughput thanks to the APS threshing system

The TUCANO 560's CLAAS APS threshing system stands out thanks to its high throughput and consistently high performance. The key advantage of this system is that the crop is accelerated from 3 m/s to 20 m/s before it even reaches the threshing drum. This extreme speed produces high centrifugal forces which enable optimal grain separation during the threshing process. In addition, a consistent and rapid crop flow is also guaranteed, even in difficult conditions.

Careful straw processing

The combination of the APS threshing system with highly effective ROTO PLUS residual grain separation gives it a notable advantage over straw walker systems. The large single rotor used in the ROTO PLUS residual grain separation system, which measures 570 mm in diameter, produces high centrifugal forces even at low speeds, making residual grain separation particularly efficient. In addition to this, the APS HYBRID SYSTEM's APS threshing system and ROTO PLUS residual grain separation system can be freely adjusted independently from one another . This means that the operator can choose the optimal settings for straw quality and grain separation according to the weather conditions, the time of day and the crop. We recommend a low rotor speed for the careful processing of fairly dry, brittle straw, but for green crops or crops which become covered with dew in the evening, a high speed can be selected to achieve the required maximum separation rate.

Compact dimensions with high power

A notable advantage of the TUCANO 560 is that it is compact in size whilst still a powerful piece of equipment. This is achieved through the use of the efficient and energy-saving APS HYBRID SYSTEM and a standard built-in 313 HP Mercedes-Benz engine. This allows the the new model to combine the power of a 6-straw walker with the size of a 5-straw walker. With tyres measuring 800 mm, the transport width remains under 3.50 m, meaning there are no limitations with regard to driving on roads. This makes the TUCANO 560 of particular interest to larger farming operations and machinery contractors in need of a high level of operating efficiency.

Improved grain separation for all TUCANO models

To ensure optimal grain separation, the TUCANO 560, like all the other models in this range, uses a lower sieve with a new shape as well as a shallower angle of oscillation. This means that the grains fall through the lower sieve more easily, and the returns volumes are lower despite the lower sieve's smaller openings. As such, the grain is cleaner and it is easier for the operator to make cleaning adjustments.

A 50% larger grain auger and a reinforced screw drive also make it possible to achieve a significantly higher throughput. This is a valuable asset, particularly when harvesting corn. Modified grain cleaning and the reinforced grain auger come as standard with all new TUCANO models. In order to improve performance even further, the grain tank in the 450 and 570 models has been enlarged by 1,000 litres so that it now holds 10,000 litres.

The TUCANO 560 will be available for the 2017 harvest season.
