CM Labs, the global leader in simulation-based training solutions for the ports industry, today announced enhancements to its Ports offering that provide customers with greater autonomy and the flexibility to create training scenarios tailored to their operations. The latest features include the Scenario Editor for four of its simulation curriculum: the Ship-to-Shore (STS) crane, Internal Transfer Vehicle (ITV), Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) crane, and Empty Container Handler (ECH). Other expanded capabilities in this launch are the addition of the AI Assistant to all ports curriculum, as well as the STS’s compatibility with the Summit simulator and upgraded lighting and atmospheric elements, enhancing the environmental simulation of conditions like fog, rain, snow, and wind.

Instructors can use the Scenario Editor to configure port environments, from the quay to the yard, for the four curriculum mentioned above. Editable components include the vessel, crane, stowage plan, delivery vehicles, and operating environment. This gives teams the ability to create training scenarios relevant to the terminal that operators will actually work in without relying solely on the fixed exercises of the standard curriculum.

These enhancements are part of the Intellia Workforce Training System, which also includes CM Labs’ Training Management Tools. With Intellia Instructor, Intellia Administrator, and Intellia Trainee, training organizations can manage training programs, monitor trainee progress, and gain greater visibility into operator performance. Together with the expanded simulation curriculum, these tools help instructors deliver more personalized training while enabling terminals to standardize and scale workforce development.

Another way that CM Labs is leading in the industry is by being the first to offer generative AI capabilities within our simulation training offering via the AI Assistant, across all Ports equipment. AI Assistants draw from CM Labs’ extensive product documentation to help both instructors and trainees get context-aware answers by voice or text. The AI can recommend training exercises and assist instructors with course planning, while providing trainees with guidance during exercises, allowing instructors to devote more time to personalized coaching.

“No two terminals operate exactly alike, and their training programs should reflect that,” said Lisa Barbieri, VP, Marketing & Strategic Partnerships, CM Labs. “By giving training teams greater control over their simulation environments, AI-powered support, and more effective tools to manage training, we're helping terminals build programs that reflect their operational realities while improving instructor efficiency and operator readiness.”

Together, these capabilities give terminals greater flexibility to tailor training to their operating environments, support instructors, and manage operator development. As part of the Intellia Workforce Training System, they help organizations deliver more consistent, effective training while preparing operators for the challenges of real-world terminal operations.
