ATLAS – for almost 100 years at the service of the customer

Since 1919, we are building our machines exactly according to the requirements of the people who use them every day, always focusing on customers’ benefit because their satisfaction is our top priority. ATLAS develops successful crane and excavator technologies and provides superior quality products and services to its customers all around the world. Quality standards and customer satisfaction at ATLAS are measured in terms of service performance, reliability, and availability.

We build robust machines that enable our customers to work more effectively, comfortably and safer than ever before and offer a great variety of versions with regard to load capacity, reach, and features. With fuss-free and easily mountable work tools, ATLAS offers its customers a technology that impresses by efficiency, comfort, performance, and safety.

As our knowhow continues to grow, so does our dealer and service network worldwide, in particular in the United States. We can hence guarantee that we will always be on the spot when you need us.

At this year’s CONEXPO from March 07-11, ATLAS will exhibit the following models:

160 MH

With a tail swing of less than 2 meters, the ATLAS material handler 160 MH belongs to the range of short- tail machines and is ideally suited for working indoors and in confinded areas. Its average fuel consumption of less than 7 liters is also hard to beat. In addition, the ATLAS 160 MH has a cab with the largest window panes of its class, because good visibility means high safety. When redesigning the cab, the ATLAS engineers paid special attention to comfort and signficantly increased it again, e.g. by installing the new automatic climate control that keeps the interior nice and cool in summer and warm when it is cold outside; the redesigned steering provides the driver with highest luxury since steering it is significantly easier due to the fewer steering wheel turns; the newly designed lift is very sturdy and gives the driver the feeling of safety and a comfortable place to work from. With its Tier4 final engine, the 160 MH of course meets the latest emission requirements. An added advantage of this machine: it now works much quieter, which benefits the driver as well as any persons in the immediate vicinity. As an additional feature, the 160 MH can also be equipped with a Midi lift, which allows the driver to elevate the cab by 1,200 mm and, at the same time, tip it backwards by 20 degrees thus moving himself into an even more comfortable seating position with a clear view of his field of operation.

350 MH E Electric drive

Future trends in recycling and scrap handling are moving increasingly towards machines with electric drive. The advantages are clear: lower energy consumption; no re-fueling stops; elimination of non- renewable fuels; zero CO2 emissions; almost silent operation; low generation of heat. These factors are very important when operating in enclosed spaces. The 350 MH E with electric drive means that ATLAS GmbH can demonstrate its customer-focused approach in special machinery fabrication. This 35-ton material handler uses an electric drive with 170 kW; the power plant is integrated in the machine, instead of the conventional diesel engine. The main drive with 132 kW powers the master hydraulic system; an auxiliary drive supplies the pilot control and steering. The supply voltage via transformer is 24V / 40 Amps. The new 350MH E needs a minimum load value on site of 250 KVA (90 kW). The energy is supplied via 80 meters of power cable which can be reeled in at anytime at the rear of the undercarriage. This means that the material handler can easily be rotated by 360 degrees and is movable with a maximum work radius of 75 meters. As an option ATLAS, offers power supply via trailing cable or fixed connection, for example for stationary operation on a plinth. The 350 MH E is based largely on the standard machine. The proven Linde hydraulic system was adopted. The maximum reach of the machine is still 18.2 meters. The upshot is that ATLAS customers can continue to use all attachment tools with the new electric machines without any modifications.

1404 ZW

With an operating weight of 20,000 kg (44092 lbs) and powered by a 95 kW (130 hp) engine, the ATLAS rail-road excavator 1404 ZW is adaptable and flexible: the new computer-aided CARSY system ensures optimal contact pressure with the rails, which means highest traction capacity at lowest tire wear. Due to the ideal pressure/oil volume ratio, this excavator can be equipped with almost any hydraulic attachment tool. This in connection with a maximum dig depth of 4.3 meters (14’1”) makes it highly versatile machine for an array of applications from cutting works to dismantling and upgrading the railway track. ATLAS has more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing rail-road excavators. With this knowhow, the ATLAS engineers created a machine which offers optimum stability and safety and allows easy railing/de-railing. The double protection ensures that emergency de-railing is permanently available. The 1404 ZW is equipped with an automatic self-diagnosis system, is extremely operator-friendly, conveniently to handle, and provides fast working cycles.

190 W

Wheeled ATLAS exvavators are the all-purpose excavators for road construction and civil engineering. Their enormous lifting capacity of more than 17 tons (37480 lbs), stability and mobility make it possible to work efficiently under almost any application conditions. Due to the large range of different arm combinations offered by ATLAS, we provide our customers with tailor-made machines for any application. With an operating weight of 20,800 kg (45856 lbs) and powered by a 116 kW (158 hp) engine, the 190W reaches a maximum dip depth of 6.71 meters (22’). ATLAS wheeled excavators have an optimal center of gravity, so that the weight is ideally distributed. Thanks to its excellent stability, the 190 W provides maximum performance. It is extremely operator-friendly and equipped with a sensitive hydraulic control system. Its strong design and construction make it the ideal excavator for trench work.

AK 65CS A3L

A crane from the “small loader crane” range. Customers love to use this crane of the 6 meter/ton class for grab applications – an application many of our competitors advise against for this size of crane. The 65-type crane is often used by state agencies for public roads as a versatile attachment carrier with different equipment. At the Conexpo, we exhibit the non-European Community version without electrics / without electronics. The A3L base unit has a hydraulic outreach of 7.2 meters (23’6”) and a lifting capacity of 730 kg (1609 lbs).

AK 125CS A4

Another crane of the non-EC range. With 4 hydraulic extensions, the crane has an outreach of 12.3 meters (40’4”) and a lifting capacity of 720 kg (1587 lbs) and is in the “medium crane range”. Main features are a durable cast-iron crane base, hydraulic hoses protected by the column, and central maintenance- free lubrication points.

AK 240.2 E A6

Already a part of the ATLAS crane family for a long time, this type has lost none of its attractiveness and is very popular with the customers – not least because of its good price/performance ratio. The 240.2 is available with manual control as well as with radio remote control. At the Conexpo, we show the “E” version with radio remote control. With 6 hydraulic extensions, the A6 base unit has an impressive outreach of 16.5 meters (54’8”) and with its negative angle it can get into areas which are hard to reach.

AK 332.3E A8

And we offer an even a longer crane: the AK 332.3 E A8 has an impressive outreach of 21 meters (68’10”) with 8 extensions, negative angle, and sensitive controls – the master of difficult tasks. A support width of 7.4 meters (24’3”) ensures the stability of this state-of-the-art 3rd generation crane with a lifting moment of 332 kNm. It is operated by radio remote control – sensitive and with millimeter precision.

AK 440 V CS

A great team: the Kenworth T-880 with an ATLAS loader crane type 440 V CS. The crane was mounted by our loader crane importer Irving Equipment LLC with headquarters in Tiffin, OH/USA – a company with a long tradition and many years of experience in the field of loader cranes. The AK 440 V CS was specifically designed for the American/Canadian market and is mainly used for foundation engineering – with an outreach of 22 meters (72’2”) at 1 ton (2205 lbs) lifting capacity it is the ideal crane for this application. After a successful market launch in Canada, the 440 V – a strong, reliable and fuss-free crane with a good price/performance ratio – will capture the American customers, too.
