January 16: "Stimuli for Housebuilding"
More sustainability and more social compatibility in housebuilding - stringent requirements are set on planners and developers. At DEUBAUKOM 2014, architects will highlight solutions for the growing challenges facing housebuilding, also in view of the demographic change. What do age-appropriate living concepts look like? What makes up the quality of a dwelling? Under the title of "Stimuli for Housebuilding", speakers from Germany and the Netherlands will devote themselves to these and other subjects in seven lectures.

They will explain measures using the examples of objects such as the climate protection estate in Düsseldorf-Garath or redeveloped residential tower blocks from the 60s in Freiburg. In this respect, it will be worth casting a glance at the Dutch neighbours whose housebuilding is characterised by high functionality. This will be followed by a one-hour podium discussion which will deal with perspectives in the sector. The participants will include Hartmut Miksch, Honorary President of the North-Rhine Westphalia Chamber of Architects, and Frits van Dongen, Rijksbouwmeester in the Netherlands.

January 17: "Meet the Best"
Within the framework of a half-day congress, the winners of renowned German skilled trade prizes will provide information about the secrets of their success under the motto of "Meet the Best".

In 30-minute lectures, prize-winning trade representatives, trainers, painters, dry construction installers and carpenters will introduce their work and will report at first hand why they are amongst the best in their "guilds". On the podium, representatives of associations and industry will subsequently discuss quality and training in the German skilled trades.
