Digitalisation is an important step in today's world. For construction companies in particular, there are many opportunities that come with digitalisation. One important aspect is telematics, which makes it possible to network vehicles and machines for better monitoring and control. With telematics, for example, data on operating hours, fuel consumption and location can be collected to better plan maintenance intervals and thus reduce operating costs.

The Internet of Things (IoT) also offers many opportunities for construction companies. Sensors can be used, for example, to measure the progress of construction projects and provide real-time information on site conditions. This allows project managers to react more quickly to problems and take action to save time and resources.

There are also numerous opportunities to use digital technologies in the design and construction of buildings. Virtual models can be created to visualise the design and facilitate collaboration between project participants. Furthermore, simulations can be used to optimise the energy consumption and environmental impact of buildings.

The widening use of telematics offers many savings and optimisation potentials that are often not yet fully utilised. With telematics, working hours can be recorded and evaluated. The data can be used to optimise work processes and increase efficiency and productivity. Workshop 4.0 also offers many advantages. By digitally recording machine data, machine hours and maintenance intervals, maintenance can be better planned. Predictive maintenance can minimise downtime and increase the service life of machines.

Dispatching and tour/route planning can be facilitated by digital PlanBoards and apps. Powerful interfaces for further IT systems such as HR systems, ERP, CRM and construction management software allow comprehensive integration into the existing IT landscape.

In summary, digitalisation offers many opportunities for construction companies to work more efficiently and cost-effectively. It is therefore worth investing in these technologies and familiarising oneself with them. Digitisation is a path that should definitely be followed in order to stay competitive and shape the future.

Stay tuned.
