This year, CLAAS is celebrating a special anniversary with the introduction of the new CARGOS 9000. The first loader wagon to be developed at the Bad Saulgau site in Upper Swabia, which was at that time known as the Bautz-Werk, left the plant in 1965. For many businesses at the time, the Bautz AUTONOM was their first introduction to mechanical forage harvesting.
In 1969, CLAAS took over the Bautz plant. Since then the product range and the site have continued to be expanded and developed. CLAAS Saulgau GmbH has thus been part of one of the most modern product development centres in the industry since 2013. In the early 1980s, the CLAAS SPRINT was developed as a high-performance silage trailer – one of the first on the market. The QUANTUM loader wagon also set new standards when it was introduced in 1998.
The profitability of an agricultural business relies heavily on the efficiency of the machines. To increase the annual operating hours of the wagon, CLAAS has been working intensively on a dual-purpose wagon concept since 2007. 2009 saw the launch of the first CARGOS 9000, which featured a removable loading and cutting assembly and removable proportioning roller unit. Last year, the smaller CARGOS 8000 dual-purpose wagon was brought to market along with its numerous additional features: Thanks to the new CLAAS double blades in the lowerable cutting floor, the hydraulically folding scraper floor, the modular tandem or tridem chassis and many other special features, the new dual-purpose wagon has proved a complete success in its first harvest season. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the loader wagon, the CARGOS 9000 has been completely re-engineered and equipped with the CARGOS 8000's special features – making the CARGOS the most innovative dual-purpose wagon currently on the market.
Professional Technology for All
For each of the CARGOS 8000 and 9000 series, CLAAS offers three models of dual-purpose wagon with a loading volume between 30 and 50 m³. Whether you are a family-run business with your own machinery or a contractor, the CARGOS' numerous equipment variants allow you to meet a wide variety of demands with high forage quality at all times. A robust and reliable wagon, the CARGOS is the perfect efficient addition, or alternative, to the chopping chain.
Situated in Europe's largest grassland region, the CLAAS plant in Bad Saulgau now has 550 employees and manufactures 275 different products, including mowers, swathers and tedders, over an operating area of 17 hectares. Besides forage harvesting technology, the chopping unit and a wide range of front attachments for the JAGUAR forage harvester are also produced in Bad Saulgau.
