It manages to network the important market partners and focuses on relevant subjects in the future: The new concept of the DEUBAUKOM construction trade fair in Essen, i.e. to create more competence and communication thanks to subject-specific and product-specific competence centres, was a hit: "DEUBAUKOM has proven that it is the ideal platform in order to network sectoral associations, architecture and the housing industry with each other. The competence centres and the stronger focusing on these target groups were crucial for this purpose," Oliver P. Kuhrt, Chairman and CEO of Messe Essen, and Egon Galinnis, Managing Director of Messe Essen, are in agreement. "The new DEUBAUKOM has addressed architects and engineers to a greater extent because they come across the information relevant to them quickly and efficiently here. These visitor groups are at the top of the rankings with around 25 percent. They stand for the future of DEUBAUKOM."
For the first time, the most important event in the construction industry at the start of the year took place at Messe Essen over the four-day period customary for fairs in the sector instead of on five days as until now. In total, 34,950 visitors obtained information from 601 exhibitors at DEUBAUKOM, Leben plus Komfort, InfraTech and DCONex. The exhibitors praised the higher quality of the trade visitors.
A total of eight competence centres on the subjects of Architecture, Housing Industry, Industrial Construction, IT, Wood, Roof, Energy and Passive House brought the market partners together and presented the newest trends and innovations. 87 percent of the visitors rated the revised range on offer as positive. Top marks went to the Dutch materials exhibition entitled "Material Xperience on tour". More than half of the people surveyed gave "very good" or "good" marks.
Quartet of Fairs Consisting of DEUBAUKOM,
Leben plus Komfort, InfraTech and DONex
The new fair concept also included linking DEUBAUKOM with a number of special subjects. The organisers and the visitors praised not only these synergetic effects but also Messe Essen as a venue in the middle of the most populous federal state with the largest construction volume, i.e. North Rhine-Westphalia.
The highlight at Leben plus Komfort ("Living Plus Comfort"), the fair for markets in the demographic change, was the specimen house of GGT Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gerontotechnik® ("German Society for Geronontological Technology") with a large number of ambient assisted living solutions. On this subject, Martina Koepp, Managing Director of GGT Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gerontotechnik® mbH, the ideal sponsor of Leben plus Komfort: "Our specimen property went down particularly well. The all-encompassing concept was greatly appreciated. Here, our partners were able to present their innovative products in a real environment close to living conditions. And the planning aspect also met with a positive response from the architects. A high trade visitor density stood out without exception. We are very satisfied with our appearance at the fair."
InfraTech from the Netherlands was dedicated to the subjects of infrastructure and civil engineering. 165 exhibitors introduced their products and services here. Johan Teunisse, Senior Account Manager, InfraTech: "The fair venue in Essen in the middle of the most important German economic region is ideal for us as an organiser: Here, our exhibitors have met all the important decision takers and have established new contacts. Correspondingly, the premiere of the trio of fairs consisting of DEUBAUKOM, DCONex and InfraTech has gone very well from our viewpoint. The synergetic effects amongst the visitors were outstanding. We will definitely be involved once again in 2016 and have also already concluded contracts with exhibitors - not only with companies which absolutely want to come again but also with new exhibitors which have convinced themselves of the success of the fair as visitors this year."
DCONex where 60 exhibitors presented themselves dealt with everything to do with the management of hazardous substances and the decontamination of polluted sites. "Our expectations in the new venue in Essen and the cooperation with the DEUBAUKOM construction trade fair have been fulfilled totally. DCONex profited from the thematic and specialist diversity of DEUBAUKOM which permitted valuable synergetic effects with its four competence pillars. This was of inestimable value for networking, for exchanging specialist ideas and for addressing new interested parties, happily also including a lot of foreign trade visitors. The visitor structure of DEUBAUKOM provided the exhibitors and the participating sectoral associations with many new contacts. The high quality of the trade visitors ensured a good mood amongst the exhibitors. Even now, the majority of the participants were already declaring that they would be involved once again in 2016," Heiko Könicke, Managing Director of the organiser (AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH), made an entirely positive assessment.
Supporting Programme Offered Great Value Added
The objective of catering for the target groups of "Architecture and Engineering", "Housing Industry", "Building Trade" and "Industrial Construction" more intensively was achieved not only due to the range offered by the exhibitors but also due to the top-class supporting programme. Around one third of the visitors used the fair for further education purposes. On the Architecture Day, over 1,000 participiants came to the international architectural congress entitled "New Construction with Steel - Free Designing in Modern Architecture". On the Housing Industry Day, experts discussed new market chances and political challenges in a symposium. Michael Groschek, Minister of Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Transport of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, participated in the podium discussion entitled "Stimuli for Housebuilding". The first Industrial Construction Congress went down very well with the 180 participants. Sustainable construction with the raw material wood was the subject of the Specialist Conference on Wood Construction with 540 visitors.
The very successful Netherlands Day highlighted the position of DEUBAUKOM as the largest and most important construction trade fair not only for North Rhine-Westphalia but also for the adjacent BeNeLux region. It promoted the business relations between the neighbouring countries and indicated new perspectives for Dutch construction companies in Germany.
Good Mood in the Construction Industry
The fact that the building trade in North Rhine-Westphalia is going into the new construction year with confidence was reflected at DEUBAUKOM as well. In the sector, it is being assumed that the turnover will rise by approx. three percent - supported, above all, by housebuilding. According to Baugewerbliche Verbände NRW ("Building Trade Associations in North Rhine-Westphalia"), both fairs (DEUBAUKOM and InfraTech) will probably provide powerful stimuli for this. The visitors to the fair confirmed the good economic conditions. More than half of them rated the current situation in the construction industry as good or very good.
The next DEUBAUKOM will take place at Messe Essen on January 13 - 16, 2016.
