First Combi-CBE model for Slovenia sold at Ligna

Combilift had one less exhibit to ship back to Ireland after this year’s Ligna show in Hannover when the Combi-CBE on display on the stand was snapped up by fellow exhibitor Mebor, a Slovenian manufacturer of primary wood processing machines. The compact counterbalance design, electric powered Combi-CBE is the first model of its kind to be in operation in Slovenia and will be used for transporting steel profiles, semi-finished and finished sawmilling machinery as well as various sizes of pallets.

The Mebor brand was established in 1982 by Boris Mesec and the company prides itself on being one of the world’s leading manufacturers of machinery for the primary sawing of wood and was the first to make a fully automatic horizontal band saw. Now catering for small, medium and larger scale sawmills, 95% of the company’s products are exported.

Boris Mesec and his son Uroš visited the Combilift stand when they were exhibiting at this year’s Ligna show. Production Manager Uroš Mesec said: “we need a more compact machine for our new production warehouse and we would like a battery operated machine that is quieter for use indoors but still capable of handling 3 tonne loads which can be up to 9m long.”

Previously the main handling vehicles used by Mebor were two-directional forklifts which transported woodworking materials around the warehouse. The limited manoeuvrability of these trucks was less than ideal when dealing with long and heavy loads and meant that transportation was a very time consuming process. Wanting a more suitable solution for requirements the company invested in its first Combilift - a C4000 truck- and in 2011 it acquired a second machine, a 10t capacity C10,000, both of which are operational at Mebor’s 15,000m² warehouse. The multi-directional capability of the Combilifts when handling long and heavy loads has resulted in increased space saving, improved safety and increased operational flexibility at the warehouse, and the Mesec family are delighted with the results.
