Wood is a high-value raw material that is in greater demand now than ever before. But what is the safest way to harvest it, the most economical way to process it, and the best way to market it? How should a forest be managed so that it can develop sustainably, meet society’s demands and still be available as a source of income for future generations?

The DLG Forestry and Wood Information Centre, located in Hall 26 and the canopy-covered grounds by the adjacent open-air area, will once again be presenting solutions to these important questions. Join experts from the DLG Forestry division, the Society of German Forest Owners (AGDW) and the Rottenburg University of Applied Sciences as they offer advice on various forestry issues

Spotlight on safety and supply chains

A series of exciting presentations both in the hall and in the open-air area will focus on the important subject of safety and supply chains. In the open-air area, experts will be demonstrating the safest way to cut trees using a tree bending simulator, and the most economical way to turn harvested wood into firewood and prepare it for transport and sale.

In Hall 26, the Rottenburg University of Applied Sciences will demonstrate how cut-resistant clothing works while highlighting quality differences using its cut protection test bench and a high-speed camera. Other issues addressed include practical demonstrations by master forest managers on using available tools for high limbing, and how to tap on the latest improvements in battery technology.
