Genie Lift Guard Contact Alarm and Fall Arrest Bar make their premiere in Europe

As part of its continuous focus on helping to enhance operator safety, visitors to the Genie booth at APEX 2017 will discover the benefits of the brand’s new generation of Genie® Lift Guard™ safety accessories. Designed to leave operators the freedom of movement they need to work efficiently, both new systems offer the advantages of being fast to set-up, install and remove.

Available as a standard factory-installed feature on most Genie Z™ and S™ boom lifts, or as an aftermarket kit adapted to Genie machines produced as from 2003, this new generation Secondary Operator Protection system provides additional operator protection from overhead obstructions. Designed with only a few fasteners and electric harness connections, this new system can be installed or removed in less than 30 minutes. The aftermarket kit will be available in Europe as from mid-2017.

Active whenever the footswitch on the boom is enabled, this new operator protection provides a free-movement zone e between the activation cable and control box which allows operator mobility after system activation. When pressure is applied to the cable, it disconnects, stops any active lift and drive functions and alerts others that the operator may need help. The system includes audio and visual warnings on the platform, with continuous notifications until the cable is reset. To reset operators only need to click the activation cable back into place. This new generation secondary operator system is compatible with other Genie attachments such as the tubular steel structure and platform control box cover

The new Genie Lift Guard Fall Arrest Bar

Because there are times when operators need to step out of the platform onto an adjacent structure to perform their necessary tasks, this new system enables operators to use their Genie boom lifts as a fall arrest anchor to remain connected when working outside the platform. Featuring a smooth, sliding, horizontal track design, the Genie Fall Arrest Bar accessory (available for either 1.83 m/ 6 ft or 2.4 m/8 ft platforms) will keep operators in compliance with what is mandated on customer job sites and can be added to nearly all Genie booms depending on specific country regulations. This accessory allows operators to tie off and move freely outside the platform using a shock-absorbing lanyard. The enclosed track, made from high-strength steel, protects the trolley from weather and debris. The system’s easily identifiable yellow bar attaches quickly and easily within 15 minutes for fast setup and removal.
