A growing awareness and increased importance on sustainability continues to drive demand for more environmentally friendly equipment for work at height. The latest Genie® hybrid and electric boom and scissor lifts, which meet this industry need while also offering a low total cost of ownership, will be featured during the APEX Show 2023, to be held June 6-8 in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

At booth #340, Genie will show the GS-1932 E-Drive Lithium-Ion and GS-3246 scissor lifts, the electric S®-60 DC telescopic boom lift and the hybrid Z®-45 FE articulating boom lift. A TraX-equipped boom lift and the recently re-introduced Z-45/25J RT articulated boom lift also will be on display.

“Across Europe, and globally, demand is strong for equipment that can deliver a lower environmental footprint without sacrificing performance or quality,” said Will Westley, Genie VP of Sales & Support for the EMEAI Region. “At the same time that demand has increased, the technology that enables electrification have evolved and costs to implement it have come down. Genie has long been a leader in electrifying MEWPs and has continued innovating in intentional ways to bring the right technology to the market, at the right time. These latest models reflect that experience, along with Genie’s commitment to delivering quality equipment that adds value for our customers.”

“In addition to showcasing our latest equipment, our Genie team at APEX will present customers with new tools to efficiently manage their fleets, like our expanded Genie Service Solutions (GSS) offering in Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India,” Westley said. “And for those taking a more hands-on approach to service, a new virtual training experience for technicians will be launched at the show.”

Reduce maintenance with GS-1932 E-Drive Lithium-Ion scissor lift

Battery maintenance and replacement is one of the biggest ongoing costs for scissor lift owners. Genie’s GS-1932 E-Drive Lithium-Ion scissor lift is equipped with a zero-maintenance battery that has been rigorously tested for longevity and reliability, even in extreme temperature environments. Designed specifically for use in MEWPs and certified by the independent Underwriters Laboratory (UL) against fire, electric shock and explosion, Genie Lithium-Ion batteries come with a five-year warranty and an expected lifespan of 10 years.

Operators and contractors will appreciate the fast, four-hour charging time, which is 33% faster than FLA batteries, and the ability to work a full shift on a single charge. Optimised for extreme heat (49° C) and cold (-29° C) weather performance, Genie E-Drive Lithium-Ion delivers the same performance regardless of the temperature.

Get real-world performance with Genie E-Drive

Since their introduction in 2020, Genie E-Drive scissor lifts have proven, real-world performance, including 25% gradeability and 14° breakover angle. E-Drive motors are brushless and fully sealed against moisture and water for maintenance-free longevity. In addition, potential for hydraulic leaks is drastically reduced because E-Drive has 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings. The GS-3246, on display at APEX, has a 11.78 m / 38 ft 1 in working height, 318 kg / 700 lb platform capacity, and at 1.18 m / 3 ft 10 in wide, easily passes through standard double doors.

Reduced weight options for low floor loading requirements

The S-60 DC is the industry’s first lightweight electrified telescopic boom model in the 20 m / 67 ft working height class. It is able to deliver a full workday of electric, 4WD performance on a single charge for both indoor and outdoor tasks. A weight of just 7,983 kg / 17,600 lb, about one-third less than comparable booms, makes it ideal for applications with low floor loading. This also makes it easier to transport on smaller trailers, or to transport multiple machines on one load. Key specifications include maximum working height of 20.6 m / 67 ft 2 in and a maximum outreach of 12.3 m / 40 ft 6 in. Unrestricted platform capacity of 300 kg / 660 lb on a 1.83 m / 6 ft jib delivers a 130-degree working range.

Work productively in muddy terrain and on sensitive surfaces with Genie TraX

Genie will also showcase a boom lift equipped with TraX, a patented, independent four-point track drive system. This drive system provides exceptional terrainability and lower contact pressure when operating on sensitive ground surfaces where damage must be kept to a minimum. The triangular steel tracks are encased in rubber at the corners, allowing for work in any season, including wetter months in muddy conditions. The track swivels 22° up and down to maintain constant contact with the ground. This helps to deliver smooth operational performance when encountering sharp changes in slope, including the break-over angle on many transport trailers.

Versatile articulated booms give owners choices in power packages

Genie has been a leader in hybrid technology since the introduction of FE about seven years ago. The highly popular electric Z-45 FE articulated boom lift — one of three FE booms in Genie’s electrified product lineup — has unrestricted range of motion and the versatility to adapt to indoor and outdoor applications, even where on-site electric power is not available. In electric mode, FE booms can work a full shift on a single battery charge; in hybrid mode they can run for more than a week on a single tank of diesel fuel.

Four-wheel drive plus electronic traction management and active oscillating axles enable 6.4 km/h / 4 mph drive speed and 45% gradeability in rough terrain. The Z-45 FE boasts a maximum working height of 15.92 m / 51 ft 8 in, a maximum horizontal outreach of 6.94 m / 22 ft 9 in, and a maximum up-and-over reach of 7.50 m / 24 ft 7 in. The 1.52 m / 5-ft articulating jib with a 135° vertical rotation provides the ability to position workers accurately in a platform with market-leading 300 kg / 660 lb capacity.

Meanwhile, the Z-45/25J RT tackles rough terrain in an easy-to-maintain package. It is equipped with a CE-compliant 25 HP Stage V Kubota engine, which requires no after-treatment service and cuts engine maintenance costs by more than half. The Z-45/25J RT, reintroduced to the market in 2021, has been updated with Genie Lift Connect® telematics technology, giving rental owners the ability to proactively act on maintenance tasks. Performance attributes include 40% gradeability, 4WD traction control and active oscillating axles.

The Z-45/25J RT has a maximum working height of 15.86 m / 51 ft 6 in and up-and-over clearance of 7.14 m / 23 ft 7 in. Zero tailswing, 135-degree vertical jib rotation, plus 355-degree turntable rotation contributes to flexible positioning in tight spaces. The platform supports 227 kg / 500 lb through the full working range.
