At the start of 2015, Kleemann shall receive the German Design Award 2015 for the jaw crusher MC 110 Z EVO, thus marking the second design prize for a mobile crusher. An expert jury awarded the jaw crusher from Göppingen in the category "Transportation and Public Design" for its first-class and innovative design and technology.
The German Design Award honours top-class products, which are pioneering in the German and international design scene. The ergonomic character, functionality and operability, practical value, degree of innovation, long life, ecological compatibility, technical quality, technical function, manufacturing technology and quality, among other things, are assessed.
Kleemann incorporated these aspects in the design of the plant right from the start with the integration of a specialist product designer in the development process. The result is impressive: The appearance of the new jaw crusher alone stands out with a fresh and modern look. The plant is also clearly arranged and structured thanks to its design and colour scheme. But the intelligent design of the MC 110 Z EVO also offers further advantages in day-to-day work. Otto Blessing, Head of Development and Design at Kleemann, explains the finer details: "The new design is much more maintenance-friendly than other machines of this class. All functional areas are easy to access, thus simplifying the handling. This factor makes an indirect contribution to the high operational reliability. For instance, large protective or design covers do not have to be removed completely for maintenance and adjustment work. Instead, they are simply loosened and swivelled. There is therefore no longer any need to operate the crusher without safety devices."
Another advantage is revealed during the erection of the crusher at a new construction site: Thanks to the clever design, Kleemann was able to drastically reduce the tooling times. The retrofitting from the transportation to the operation position only takes a few minutes with the integrated hopper walls and foldable side conveyors. A feature which is greatly appreciated by the contractors.
The economical crusher direct drive, combined with electric drives for vibrating chutes, conveyors and grizzly, makes a noticeable contribution to the reduction of fuel consumption. This way the plant can be operated extremely efficiently - and with huge power reserves. This is confirmed by customers from various countries and market segments. Last but not least, the MC 110 EVO also impresses during feeding and material delivery: The Continuous Feed System (CFS) creates an extremely consistent filling of the crusher area, thus contributing to a significant improvement in performance.
The expert jury were more than convinced by this feature and other characteristics of the Kleemann crusher, thus leading to the mobile crusher receiving the German Design Award 2015. It is one of the few products to be awarded from a total of 2,250 entries. It is in the best of company: The new motorbike BMW R Nine T, the current Audi TT and children's seats from Recaro were also awarded in the category "Transportation and Public Design". The winners and their products will be presented at an official ceremony on 13 February 2015 in Frankfurt.
