GMD 5251 TC: the new « high capacity » trailed central drawbar disc mower for tractors of medium power

The increase in grassland to mow necessarily leads to an adaptation of the equipment used. With the new trailed large width central drawbar disc mower GMD 5251 TC, KUHN offers a cost-effective alternative with regards to front-rear mowing units coupled to tractors of a certain size and necessarily equipped with a front lift linkage and PTO-shaft.

This high work output model features a working width of 5.20m and is intended for medium power tractors as from 110 -120 hp.

Forage quality and nutritional value are preserved thanks to the suspension with four powerful springs and mower unit kinematics with upward travelling connecting rods that ensure perfect ground contour following. Moreover, the wide section working wheels, positioned at each machine end, avoid running over the forage and reduce the unit’s ground pressure, thus protecting the plant cover and promoting regrowth.

High work output and driving comfort provided by the trailed position are further increased with the central drawbar for back and forth mowing, and the widely recognised manoeuvrability of the GYRODINE swivel hitch.

The OPTIDISC cutter bar with the FAST FIT quick blade release device benefits from the technology, know-how and experience accumulated by KUHN, world leading manufacturer of disc mowers over nearly 50 years. The mower is driven centrally to divide drive stresses and limit mechanical constraints, even in intensive or difficult conditions of use.

Forage is delivered in one swath of approximately 4m width facilitating drying and the later tedding process, with the possibility to divide it in the middle depending on the setting of the flow dividing plates.

Transport-work position setting carried out in less than 10 seconds, transport wheels set in forward position and road travel dimensions below 2.80 m make the GMD 5251 TC a highly manoeuvrable machine for accessing plots and extremely safe for transport.

This model completes the already existing, high-end range of trailed mowers GMD 2850 to 4050 TL with central drawbar, available in width of up to 4m depending on the country.
