Handling with PLUS – Mecalac Showcases New Series of Telescopic Loaders

Mecalac expands its range of telescopic loaders by a new
series of four-wheel steered telescopic loaders. At the bauma 2013, Mecalac will present
the first 2 products of the new AT series. The AT 900 comes with bucket volumes of 0.9-
1.5 m< and an engine power of 55 kW. Its larger sibling, the AT 1050, can be equipped
with buckets ranging between 1.05 and 1.6 m<. Both telescopic loaders were designed
for stable, versatile operation in the most confined environments, featuring an enormous
dumping height of 4.05 m and an excellent reach of 2.15 m.

Apart from telescopic swing loader AS 900tele introduced in 2012, customers can now
choose among 3 Mecalac telescopic loaders with bucket volumes ranging from 0.9 to
1.6 m< to meet almost any demand.

With this series, Mecalac is specifically addressing customers in the building,
industry/recycling, agricultural and municipal sectors.

Telescopic Monoboom with ZPLUS-Kinematics
The highlight of the new series of telescopic loaders is the kinematics. Mecalac succeeded
in combining the advantages of the P-kinematics with the Z-kinematics to a new perfect
kinematics, the ZPLUS-kinematics. It boasts high and constant tear-out and reset
forces and a constant force curve across the entire tipping range. This ensures
powerful but also sensitive operation across the entire tipping range, e.g. in the recycling
sector. With the high reset force the kinematics offers, heavy attachments can also be
easily reset when at maximum reach. In addition, the ZPLUS-kinematics ensures exact
parallel guidance, which is particularly important when working with pallet forks.

The very compact design of the kinematics made it possible to integrate it into the
slender Monoboom. The benefit for the operator is a significantly improved view of the
attachments. This increases the productivity and minimises damage. All pipes and hoses
are protected inside the telescopic boom. This increases the service life of the
components considerably and also reduces the life cycle costs.

Already existing attachments can be coupled to the brand-compatible quick-coupler with
electromagnetic lock.

Safety and Convenience
All Mecalac telescopic loaders feature the rigid, one-piece chassis and the Mecalac fourwheel
steering, which ensures the centre of gravity is always in the centre of the loader
at any steering angle. Maximum stability and agility translate to safe and comfortable
driving.

The driver’s seat is centrally located in the panorama space cab, allowing for an optimum
view of the work environment. Two large doors on both sides provide safe and

convenient access to the driver’s cabin – a safety asset even in confined spaces such as
parallel to much travelled roads.

All operating controls, including those for the auxiliary hydraulics, are integrated in the
ergonomic, pilot-controlled joystick. With the standard electro-proportional valves, the
telescoping function and the first auxiliary circuit can be controlled very sensitively. The
series two-hand operation of the quick-change device ensures maximum operational
safety and ease of use.

A low noise level of 74 dB(A) inside and 99 dB(A) outside the cab allow for comfortable
working inside and outside the driver’s cab.

Intelligent Engine and Cooler Concept
All Mecalac telescopic loaders feature smooth-running 4-cylinder Cummins diesel
engines. The hydrostatic fan drive ensures optimum, temperature–controlled cooling
power at 2 levels. This reduces both fuel consumption and noise emissions.

The cooling air inlet is located above the rear end behind the cabin where the air is
cleanest. This tried and tested concept implemented in 2007 results in longer cleaning
intervals for the cooler and reduces the noise level outside the machine, a key feature for
customers operating the loaders in dust-laden environments, e.g. in the recycling or
agricultural sector.

All maintenance points are optimally accessible. The easily accessible fuel tank also
allows refuelling of the loaders from the ground with a canister.

More Options for Use with Rear Attachment Preparation
Apart from being operated as a construction or cargo handling loader or with special front
attachments, Mecalac telescopic loaders can be equipped with various rear-mounted
brackets. This allows an easier mounting of equipment such as spreader during winter
times. Operation, for example as a tractor with trailer, is also possible.
