Machines Earned International Award for Industrial Design
Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas today revealed three new models in its HX-A series of compact hydraulic excavators. The Hyundai HX35AZ, HX40A and HX48AZ excavators are among the new machines featured in Hyundai’s exhibit at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023.
“Contractors will find the right combination of power, performance and operator safety and comfort in Hyundai’s three new compact excavator models,” said Adam Ford, Product Manager, Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas. “These machines represent a new generation of compact excavator technology built on decades of engineering and manufacturing excellence.”
All three new models feature low-emission engines that are Tier 4 Final compliant. The Hyundai HX35AZ excavator is powered by a Kubota D1703 diesel engine with a net power rating of 24.8 hp (18.2 kW), while the HX40A and HX48AZ feature Yanmar 4TNV88C engines, rated at 37.4 hp (27.5 kW).
The HX35AZ has an operating weight of 8,300 lb (3,765 kg), dig depth of 9 ft 8 in (2.95 m), and bucket breakout force of 7,081 lb (3,212 kg). The HX40A has an operating weight of 9,479 lb (4,300 kg), dig depth of 11 ft 2 in (3.4 m), and bucket breakout force of 9,846 lb (4,466 kg). The HX48AZ has an operating weight of 10,912 lb (4,950 kg), dig depth of 11 ft 5 in (3.5 m), and bucket breakout force of 8,223 lb (3,730 kg).
Award-winning “Tiger Eye” rear light design integrates with larger cabs, windows
Hyundai’s new compact excavator models collectively earned a coveted, international 2022 Red Dot Design Award, honoring the best industrial designs from around the globe, in part due to the distinctive “tiger eye” styling of the rear lights, demonstrating that form can go hand in hand with function. The rear lighting design integrates with the overall larger cab design and expanded visibility from the large, curved windows.
The HX40A and HX48AZ offer standard load-sensing hydraulics, while the HX35AZ and HX48AZ incorporate zero-tail swing for efficient operation in confined spaces. All three models include adjustable auxiliary flow, 5-in. full color LCD monitor, and a new auto-safety-lock function preventing unintended use of a machine.
All three new HX-A series compact excavators will be offered in both canopy or cabin versions along with the choice of standard or 4-way dozer blade.
Industry’s leading standard warranty
The new Hyundai compact excavator models are covered by the industry-leading Hyundai standard warranty of 3 years or 3,000 hours plus a 5-year, 10,000-hour structural warranty, with optional Hyundai extended warranties.
All three models are further protected by five years’ free use of Hi MATE, Hyundai’s proprietary remote management system that allows 24/7 global tracking and monitoring of engine, hydraulics, electrical systems and other key components to facilitate preventive maintenance and reduce downtime.
