Liebherr is pushing ahead with the modernisation of the crane technology and is presenting the latest generation of the 150-tonne crane, the LTM 1150-5.4. As part of the introduction of the new LICCON3 control system, the tried-and-tested LTM 1150-5.3 has been further developed. The 5-axle crane now shines not only with state-of-the-art technology, but also with the trend-setting crane design of the new series. In addition, the LTM 1150-5.4 is equipped with new driver assistance systems to increase driving safety on the road. Visitors can experience the result live: The LTM 1150-5.4 can be seen on the Liebherr stand at Bauma in Munich.

The family of Liebherr mobile cranes with modern crane design and trend-setting LICCON3 control system is constantly growing. It is not only newly developed crane models that benefit from the technical innovations - tried and tested models are also being converted to the new control system. A striking detail: The type designation is given a numerical refresh by increasing the last digit by one. The most recent example is the LTM 1150-5.3, which is now known as the LTM 1150-5.4. The performance parameters and lifting capacities of the crane remain unchanged.

LICCON3 crane control system

With what is now the third generation of the LICCON control system (Liebherr Computed Control), Liebherr is taking proven operating concepts to a new technological level - completely new software and programming language, faster data bus, significantly more memory and higher computing power. The changeover remains child's play for crane operators: the familiar operating concept ensures a high recognition value, so that the switch to the new control system is seamless.

Proven hardware components, such as the mobile operating and BTT display unit, have been adopted. The touchscreen function on the new large display in the superstructure cab means that it is now even easier and more comfortable to control. The way in which the information is shown has also been revised and simplified. In addition, LICCON3 cranes are prepared for telemetry and fleet management as standard. In the future, crane contractors will be able to view and evaluate all the relevant data using the MyLiebherr customer portal.

New driver's cabin and crane cab

As a result of the high synergy effects involved, Liebherr is launching the new driver's cabin at the same time as the LICCON3 control system. The modern design features premium materials and timeless lines as well as delivering a whole host of improvements for the crane driver. These include the new multifunction steering wheel, side roller blind on the driver’s door, improved instruments and modules as well as new displays. Additional convenience is offered by options such as a central locking system with remote key and the "Coming and Leaving Home" function.

A completely new, modern automatic heating and air-conditioning system in both the driver's cab and the crane operator's cab ensures a high level of comfort. A sun sensor detects strong sunshine and automatically adjusts the heating settings. The lighting packages for the crane cab, the superstructure, the rear of the vehicle, the front headlights and the telescopic boom as well as the lattice fly jib have been optimised and can be operated with LEDs. The benefits of LED technology include a longer service life and superior lighting performance.

LTM 1150-5.4 – The jewel in your fleet

Under the slogan "The jewel in your fleet", Liebherr presented the LTM 1150-5.3 in 2020 - a real all-rounder that shines in any fleet. With its 66 metre telescopic boom, the 150-tonne crane is in the league of the 200-tonne class cranes and impresses with outstanding lifting capacities, both in a steep position and with a large outreach. With the telescopic boom extended to its maximum length, the powerhouse still lifts 9.1 tonnes. That makes it perfect for erecting tower cranes and radio masts.

The efficient 5-axle mobile crane is immediately ready for use on the construction site, as it already carries nine tonnes of ballast with a total weight of 60 tonnes. This enables it to complete many jobs without the need for additional vehicles to transport ballast. That saves time and money, and makes the crane even more valuable to crane contractors – hence the slogan: “The jewel for your crane fleet”.

Innovations for higher customer benefit

In addition to the new crane control and the new design, the LTM 1150-5.4 also has other technical features that increase efficiency, comfort and safety. Road safety benefits from new intelligent assistance systems: The Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) and the Moving Off Information System (MOIS) support the driver and increase protection for road users such as pedestrians and cyclists.

In addition, the LTM 1150-5.4 is prepared for the use of RemoteDrive as standard. A radio remote control with which the crane can be moved from the outside - an enormous advantage at confined construction sites. For even more comfort and reliability, new options are available that have already been tried and tested on other models. These include a central lubrication system for the chassis and a digital tyre pressure indicator, which ensure optimum maintenance and availability of the crane.
