Komatsu @ Agritechnica 2019

The brand name Hanomag is still very famous all over the world, especially for machines like Hanomag tractor or Hanomag plough. Already 30 years ago, in 1989, Komatsu, now Komatsu Germany GmbH, took over Hanomag shares and is producing since then wheel loaders and compact wheel loaders of various sizes as well as mobile excavators as of 2005. These machines are also used in agricultural applications.

For example the wheel loader WA320-8: An allround utility performer for almost any worksite, with an attachment-friendly quick coupler, an EU Stage IV engine and up to 3% lower fuel consumption versus the previous model.

If intended for agricultural use, the machine can be equipped with special options for farming applications ex factory. For example, it is possible to select size 750 agricultural tyres for silage applications, together with an appropriate silage fork. Additionally, there is an option of equipping the machine with wider, adjustable mud guards, which can be set to the tyre widths. These are also essential for road approval.

The sealed alternator with air intake via an air filter ensures a longer lifetime in dusty applications. The coarse-mesh cooler unit with protective mesh on all sides, in combination with the programmable reversible radiator fan, guarantees long intervals between cleaning and therefore also reduced maintenance costs with increased productivity. The accessibility of the cooler is further simplified by the swivelling fan.

The engine air in the machine is cleaned by a Turbo II pre-filter. 8-fold LED work lighting offers sufficient illumination for lengthy agricultural applications. For the first time ever Komatsu showcases at Agritechnica fair in Hannover also two mini excavator models. On the stand Komatsu shows the mini excavator PC16R-3 HS with a variable undercarriage.

The Komatsu machines of the series Dash 3 already well known in the market ranging from 1.4 to 2.7 tonnes up the PC26 model were specifically designed with the most demanding customers in mind are also fit for agricultural use. These improved machines now propose increased controllability and safety, fantastic operator comfort and easier maintenance. Thanks to the ease of implement replacement, the machines can be readily equipped for a wide range of work, e.g. for digging trenches, clearing ditches and drilling holes. Together with the right implement, the mini excavators impress as flexible implement carriers.

Designed to offer total safety for both the operator and bystanders the Dash 3 machines feature items such as ROPS and FOPS structures, travel alarm as standard and engine neutral start system to minimise the risk of injuries. To help increase the life of the machines, and consequently the resale value, the machines have no exposed parts, hydraulic hoses are protected inside the boom, covers and bonnets are made of steel.

The second mini excavator model on show at the Agritechnica trade fair this year is the PC45MR-5. The machine is from the MR-5 mini excavator range, with operating weights ranging from 2.7 to 4.2 t: High performance and ideally suited for working in a restricted space, they are also easy to maintain.

The mini excavator can be equipped with a range of implements for agricultural applications, such as the so-called “wood cracker” for cutting soft and hard wood at the edges of fields and along farm tracks. Also highly useful are a standard bucket or ditch cleaning bucket, for clearing water ditches along fields and at field edges.
