Big dozer productivity meets automated efficiency
Komatsu Europe presents the new D155AXi-8 dozer, Komatsu’s first intelligent Machine Control crawler dozer in its class, a newcomer in the growing range of Komatsu machines equipped with this unique technology. Featuring all the advantages of a D155AX-8 dozer and enhanced with the customer benefits offered only by Komatsu’s “intelligent” technology, the new D155AXi-8 dozer brings improved construction efficiency and reduced costs to the jobsite.
“The Komatsu D155AXi-8 is built for hard work on big jobsites, where large amounts of material are moved and target surfaces often require final precision levelling” says William Groven Product Manager at Komatsu Europe. “With Komatsu’s intelligent Machine Control fully integrated on the D155AXi-8, this new dozer easily handles the entire process in the most efficient way, from first to last pass”.
Innovative, integrated, intelligent
The D155AXi-8 machine control system features enhanced “intelligence” that allows automated operation from heavy dozing to fine grading. The new dozer has the ability to sense and control blade load, optimise the start of the cut and minimise track slip. It achieves up to 8% greater efficiency in moving material in a start-to-finish grading test, compared to typical aftermarket machine control systems.
The lack of blade-mounted sensors also means there’s no need for operators to climb on the blade to install/remove GNSS antennas, no coiled cables to snag and no electrical connections to worry about at the start and end of every shift.
Time-saving productivity
Powered by a 268 kW (360 HP) Komatsu SAA6D140E-7, EU Stage IV emissions-certified engine, the D155AXi-8 emits 80% less nitrogen oxides (NOx) than its EU Stage IIIB predecessor. This variable geometry turbocharged and after-cooled, 15.24 litre diesel engine features a Komatsu Diesel Particulate Filter (KDPF) and a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system and can achieve fluidneutral fuel economy.
Designed to provide maximum operation efficiency, an automatic gearshift transmission and lock-up torque converter team up to select the optimal gear range depending on jobsite conditions and load. This electronically controlled transmission locks up the torque converter to transfer engine power directly to the transmission, eliminating horsepower loss and cutting fuel consumption by up to 10%. Komatsu’s patented SIGMADOZER® blade is designed to dig up and roll more soil at the blade’s centre. Compared to a typical semi-U blade, it holds more material and reduces digging resistance to improve performance and productivity by up to 15%.
Comfortable ride and peace of mind
The D155AXi-8 ROPS pressurised cab has large, tall windows and superb sealing for outstanding visibility along with less noise and dust inside the cab. The D155AXi-8 cab damper mounts isolate the cab from the machine frame, soften shocks and vibrations to provide unmatched operator comfort.
KOMTRAX™ telematics and Komatsu Care®, a complimentary maintenance program, offer top fleet management and support, protect the machine against misuse and guarantee maximum efficiency and uptime.
