KUHN launches a new DURAKARB furrow opener point combining precision and robustness for its precision seed drills

The KUHN Group, designer of innovative and sustainable solutions for today's and tomorrow's agriculture, unveils its new DURAKARB furrow opener point, specially developed for its precision single-seed drills. This innovation, the result of extensive research into materials, design and agronomy, significantly improves seed planting quality over time, even in the most demanding conditions.

The coulter tip is the main wearing part of a precision seeder. Its function is to open the furrow behind the coulters to create a precise V-shaped furrow profile, ensuring that the seed is positioned correctly on the seed line.

This new DURAKARB furrow opener tip is designed to meet farmers' expectations in terms of sowing precision, durability and versatility. This tip features a tungsten carbide insert to optimise furrow opening, ensure consistent sowing depth over time and reduce maintenance requirements.

With this new tip, we offer users a more durable, higher-performance solution that is perfectly suited to the demands of modern agriculture, while improving the cost-per-hectare ratio.

The advantages of this new DURAKARB ploughshare tip are:

  • An optimised shape promoting a uniform seedbed capable of maintaining its profile over thousands of hectares (depending on conditions of use).

  • A carbide insert specifically designed to follow the profile of the groove, regardless of the conditions of use.

  • Versatile enough to equip the current range of KOSMA and MAXIMA 3 precision seed drills, but also available for previous generations MAXIMA 1 and MAXIMA 2.

  • The service life of this part has been extended to reduce the frequency of replacement and minimise machine downtime.

This new part will be available from September 2025 on factory-fitted machines. It will also be presented to the public at the KUHN stand at AGRITECHNICA in November 2025 in Hanover.
