After creating in 2008 its second Alsatian production site dedicated to the assembly of large machines in Monswiller, KUHN is entering a new phase in order to meet future challenges and demands of its international clientele by reorganizing and modernizing its internal logistics.

This large-scale project represents an investment of around 17 Million Euros and concerns the historical site of Saverne which currently employs over 1 200 employees.

This new logistics tool called « Central Logistics Center » will be composed of an almost 10 000 m² and 20 m high modern structure, replacing the previously demolished buildings. It will be used for receiving and storing 18,000 references of parts and components from our suppliers, sub-contractors and other Group factories. The performance of this new tool will lie in its ability to supply the manufacture and assembly workshops more precisely and more regularly with the most accurate quantities.

The goal of this project is to give the company the means to react even more rapidly to customer demands and produce precisely what is needed at the right time, freeing storage spaces of workshops to replace them by spaces creating added value. Modern handling techniques (including an automatic system of storage and retrieval machines of a capacity of 32 000 spaces) as well as the best monitoring software will be implemented in order to ensure the highest performance and optimal working conditions for store clerks and forklift truck operators that will operate this facility daily.

This major industrial project for KUHN and its area was launched on February 23 2016 in the presence of important local figures. The Central Logistics Centre should be operational in the second half of 2017.
