A TER Check in April resulted in the recovery of a CAT 301.6C excavator which had been stolen from Leicestershire almost four years ago.
The machine, valued at £14,000 in 2008, had been the subject of a significant fraud where multiple items were obtained by means of deception.
Arrangements have since been made to return the item to a TER storage depot for the owners, Hewden, who were delighted with the result: "We are grateful to TER for securing the recovery of one of our excavators. This case clearly highlights the benefits of the TER Check service - the use of which can prevent innocent purchasers from buying stolen equipment and enhance the opportunity for stolen equipment to be returned to its rightful owners".
TER is now working with the Police to assess whether the intelligence gained can be linked to the suspected thieves!
