"Made in USA - Engineered in Germany": for the TII Group, The Precision Companies produce heavy haulage vehicles from SCHEUERLE, NICOLAS and KAMAG for the American market

A direct contact for local customers, shorter delivery times and a product "Made in USA" - the benefits which are provided for American customers through the cooperation between the TII Group, the world's leading manufacturers of heavy load vehicles, and The Precision Companies (PFC, PEI and PMI) are obvious. The first American SCHEUERLE HighwayTrailer has already been produced at the Precision Fabricating & Cleaning Co., Inc. (PFC) facility in Cocoa, Florida and successfully tested. It will be unveiled at the CONEXPO fair in Las Vegas in March. Basis for the production cooperation is the good and close business relationship which goes back over 30 years whereby Precision Enterprises Inc. (PEI ) has been responsible for the sales and after-sales service for American customers of KAMAG (member of the TII Group). In a first step, the SCHEUERLE HighwayTrailer - already successfully introduced on the US market - will be built by PFC in single and double telescopic versions, as well as non- telescopic variants. It is planned to expand the cooperation to eventually include other products for the North and Central American markets.

"With this cooperation, we are addressing customer requirements as well as the increasing demand in the North and Central American markets", according to Susanne Schlegel, Commercial Managing Director at SCHEUERLEand KAMAG. "The cooperation not only means faster deliveries through the elimination of transportation times, but also achieving significantly closer proximity to our customers" adds Bernd Schwengsbier, Managing Director ofTII Sales, the sales company within the Group. "With the HighwayTrailer, we offer a German product which has been adapted for the American market and is manufactured in the USA while ensuring German quality standards. In addition, qualified on-site service and purchase processing in the local currency through US banks is also in place."

On the American side, there is also a sense of optimism: "For over 30 years, a reliable and productive partnership between PEI and the TII Group has existed. Raising this now to the next level and producing German products for sale in the United States is a logical step - the decisive impetus for this came from the resurgent American market", said Robert Kelly, CEO of PEI. Prior to this, an intensive transatlantic transfer of knowledge took place over a longer period and American staff members of PFI in production and service were provided with extensive training at the SCHEUERLE and KAMAG plants in Germany.

Unveiled at the bauma 2013 by SCHEUERLE, the HighwayTrailer with its lightweight construction is the ideal solution for the American market. The special design of the centralized middle frame provides the vehicle with a high level of stability and loading capacity. The "standard model" for the US market is the double telescopic variant but the HighwayTrailer is also available in single or non-telescopic versions. Its hydraulic axle compensation, the lowest dead weight of its class resulting in a maximized payload of up to 108 tonnes as well as the impressive loading length reaching 32.60 metres, guarantee the vehicle operator extremely flexible and cost-effectivetransportation assignments. The SCHEUERLE HighwayTrailer is available with hydraulically balanced gooseneck or with trailer equipment.

The TII Group with SCHEUERLE, NICOLAS and KAMAG at the CONEXPO, Las Vegas
On an area of more than 300 square metres (Silver Lot 1, Booth No. 3905) at this year's CONEXPO in Las Vegas, the TII Group wil be showcasing their wide range of transport solutions for the American market. Apart from the world-famous and market-leading SPMTs from SCHEUERLE (Self - Propelled Modular Transporters), the robust industrial and ship transporters along with other special vehicles, the TII Group provides a wide range of vehicle solutions for heavy haulage on public roads which are tailored to suit the exact needs of each customer. For the North American heavy transport sector with payloads up to 120 t, in addition to the HighwayTrailer,  the HighwayCombi and the Dual Lane WideCombi from SCHEUERLE are particularly suitable. Modular transport systems such as the SCHEUERLE -KAMAG K25 - which can also be coupled with other vehicle makes - SCHEUERLE InterCombi or NICOLAS MHD, platform trailer combinations (also with drive or the PowerBooster) allow the transportation of payloads of up to several hundred tonnes.

The highlight at this year's TII Group stand is the first SCHEUERLE HighwayTrailer manufactured by PFC  which will be unveiled to the American market at CONEXPO 2014. A further exhibit on display is a four-axle WideCombi PowerBooster. The WideCombi has also been customized to fully comply with national legislation and deal with road conditions found in the American market, and can be further extended. As a result, it can be perfectly adapted to suit the load dimensions and ensures control of the load distribution on the road surface. In order to allow an optimum ratio of payload and tare weight, the WideCombi has been designed using a robust split- type construction. The SCHEUERLE WideCombi is based on the proven pendulum axle technology which was invented by SCHEUERLE in 1956. The hydraulic cylinders in these axes provide a strong damping action, compensate ground unevenness and guarantee a high lifting range in order to drive under and lift jacked loads. The pendulum axles provide smooth and precise steering operations, excellent manoeuvrability and a steering angle of up to 60°. This is described in more detail in the following.

Another exhibit of the TII Group at the CONEXPO is the SCHEUERLE-KAMAG K25 PowerBooster which, like the PowerBooster version of WideCombi, offers all the benefits in a "5-in-1" solution:

1. The PowerBooster is equipped with drive axles and can be towed at 80 km/h as an additional platform trailer unit or, if required, used as an auxiliary drive through a likewise shiftable PowerPackUnit (PPU). Before negotiating a critical incline, the driver activates the powerful PPU. As soon as the tractor no longer has sufficient power to manage the incline, the drive automatically cuts in, thus providing sufficient thrust. Once the slope has been overcome, the additional drive unit switches off  automatically and the speed can be increased again in accordance with the road conditions.

2. After the drive has been switched off, the PowerBooster can reach a speed of 80 km/h in the transport combination. The K25 PB is also characterized by its sturdy chassis construction, a +/- 300 mm axle compensation and asteering angle of 60°.

3. For in-plant transports, the PowerBooster with PPU can be uncoupled as a single vehicle from the platform trailer combination and controlled by means of a mobile control system as a self-propelled transport combination. This operating panel controls the hydrostatic drive, lifting and lowering functions, hydraulic steering and the braking system.

4. A further option for in-plant transport assignments is the mechanically coupled parallel combination whereby the PowerBooster is laterally coupled as a platform trailer unit. Due to this broad base, payloads with a high centre of gravity can be transported.

5. The PowerBooster can be used as a traction unit at the front or pusher machine at the rear for extremely long combinations (with or without decks). With all these different possible combinations, the PowerBooster is the all-rounder in heavy-goods transportation.

Customers of the TII Group benefit from three authorized sales and service partners in North America - PEI (Precision Enterprise Inc., Cocoa, FL), TSP (Transport Systems and Products, Inc., Stamford, CT), and RGS (RiggingGear Sales Inc. , Dixon, IL). Based on their long-standing business relationships with the TII Group, they offer all services in sales and after-sales for TII Group vehicles in the American market.
