Major setting innovations for new VENTA pneumatic seed drill / HR power harrow and CD disc tool combinations

KUHN has introduced a brand new generation of seeding combinations (new VENTA pneumatic seed drill, new HR power harrow, new CD disc tools). The many settings made from the tractor cab are now easier and excellent seeding quality is ensured in any working conditions (heterogeneous land in the same plot, plot changes,…).

These new generation combinations allow adjustments to be made from the tractor cab, for power harrow working depth, levelling bar height and seeding application rate modulation for example.

Other settings have also been greatly simplified so that users can make adjustments in the middle of a job to optimise seeding quality:

• centralised adjustment of seeding depth and covering harrow pressure

• quick and easy adjustment of application rate via a button located at the back of the machine that starts flow control. You no longer have to go backwards and forwards between the metering unit and the cab.

The new VENTA series 1020 seed drill (with double discs) and VENTA 1030 (SEEDFLEX coulter bar) are available in widths of 3m, 3.50m and 4m. Metering is by VENTA fluted volumetric metering unit which is capable of distributing both seeds and fertiliser with no additional equipment. It has an electrical drive system which makes it possible to modulate application rate during operations, either manually or with a prescription map.

For constant and regular seed depth delivery, the VENTA’s SEEDFLEX seeding units are mounted on parallelogram and equipped with depth control and press wheel. Intuitive depth settings allow fast adaptation to variable plot conditions and guarantee fast, homogenous emergence.

To limit reloading, hopper volumes have been increased to 1,500l and 1,800l.These new VENTA seed drills are available in QUANTRON S2 version, with large colour screen and ISOBUS version, with or without terminal. They are AEF certified for the UT, TC Bas and TC SC functions.

These VENTA seed drills are equipped with a patented quick-release interface, for the new HR power harrows and the new preparation tool with CD discs. New HR series 1020, 1030 and 1040 power harrows are designed to be used in combination with the new VENTA seed drills. They come in widths of 3m, 3.50m and 4m, and are adapted to tractors with PTO of up to 300 hp.

They can be equipped with continuous hydraulic working depth adjustment which makes it possible to adapt to plot conditions in real time; deeper work in compact zones and shallower work in stony areas.

They are also fitted with the all new levelling bar which can be adjusted manually or hydraulically (continuous adjustment) from the cab, to adapt to changing conditions in the plot. The levelling bar also has an adjustable tilt system to make operations more or less aggressive according to desired result. Position and adjustment are independent from harrow working depth adjustment as they are connected to the roller.

In addition to power harrows, KUHN also offers a new seedbed preparation tool with discs, the CD 1020 series, in working widths of 3m and 3.50m, for high-speed seeding (up to 15 km/h) in light soils with plant residues. This tool is designed to work in combination with the new VENTA pneumatic seed drill as well as the new SITERA mechanical seed drill.

With a large number of discs (24 and 28 respectively) the CD is able to produce fine seedbeds and great levelling.

Notched discs are mounted in twos to make passage through crop residues easier. Each arm is held in the soil by polyurethane mounts fitted to a cross-shaped sectional tube to ensure constant working depths even at high speeds. This combination is compatible with the new large diameter MEGAPACKER roller (590mm) and the STEELLINER furrow-opening roller (550mm).
