Manufacturer-independent Digital Farming

Together with agrarian software company FarmFacts, a subsidiary company of BayWa AG, six agricultural machinery manufacturers, AGCO, Krone, Kuhn, Lemken, Pöttinger and Rauch are developing a solution to the requirement of farmers and contractors for machine data management which is manufacturer-independent. This creates the basis for automated, process-orien-tated data use for companies with a variety of different fleets.

The official presentation of this software module for manufacturer-independent machine management will take place in Hannover, at Agritechnica 2017. Here, the product name will also be presented to the specialist audience for the first time.

The new module will enable farmers and contractors to simply integrate all of their machines in the respective production process, e.g. real-time display and monitor- ing of machines, as well as planning and arranging jobs. Important agronomic machine data will be available in the system via connection to the data exchange platform, “agrirouter”, and with the option to process further, proprietary manufacturing interfaces. This data is available for planning, evaluation and documentation. Farmers will gain more transparency and this will act as the basis for future improve-ments of operating procedures.

Further manufacturing modules can be integrated, so that additional manufacturing-specific functionalities are available to the users. Furthermore, the system will also enable third-party providers to connect their software applications via an open interface. This modular, open, overall design permits digital operational management for farmers which they can adapt to their own needs.

Web technology will facilitate location-independent work; via mobile devices, farmers can access their data from anywhere and at any time. Its usage is based upon high European IT security standards. Farmers and contractors remain the owners of the data. With the assistance of an additional smartphone app (which will be both available for iOS and Android), “analogue” machines, without electronics, can also be integrated into the new software module. The offer will also be available to international customers. The module will be available in German, English and French to begin with.
