Marani Hired as CIO for Hertz Equipment Rental

Richard Marani, who has more than 30 years of information technology experience in various businesses, has been hired as chief information officer at Hertz Equipment Rental Corp.

“Rich Marani has a track record of delivering on business-critical IT objectives and overseeing successful information system transformations,” said Larry Silber, Hertz Equipment Rental president and chief executive officer. “He will be an invaluable asset to HERC as we plan for our future. Rich has already led an information technology team through a spin-off transaction and brings executive-level IT experience to ensure that our infrastructure enables our business plans.”

Marani will ensure that Hertz Equipment Rental has the proper technologies and systems in place to support the company’s planned separation from Hertz as a stand-alone company, Hertz said in a news release.

He began his career at General Electric, moving into information technology and becoming that company’s technology leader.

Marani then worked at United Technologies, and later joined Ingersoll Rand Corp. in 2002 as vice president of information technology. He built up information technology systems in advance of Ingersoll Rand’s spin-off of its construction equipment division to Doosan Infracore.

He left Ingersoll Rand to become the information technology leader at Doosan. He returned to Ingersoll Rand four years later as a senior information technology leader, responsible for the company’s global information technology strategy.
