Food: ACP – Automated Case Picking

Food retailers have to manage conflicts arising from the different value-creation chains in stores and distribution centres. Optimising the value-creation chain in stores often has an adverse effect on the value-creation chain for the distribution centres, and vice versa.

Vanderlande's ACP (Automated Case Picking) concept creates a perfect balance between opposing goals in the value-creation chain. It also helps food retailers to optimise customer perception, ergonomics, and reduce CO₂ emissions and costs.

The ACP solutions from Vanderlande are designed to allow modular growth and parallel activities that guarantee availability.

Parts & components: ADAPTO – the first 3D shuttle concept

The highly flexible ADAPTO storage, retrieval and transport concept offers unique flexibility and availability, enabling warehouses to optimise the service levels offered to customers.

Increasing labour costs, limited space and many small orders with short delivery times are just some of the various challenges currently facing warehouses and distribution centres. This means a continuous search for solutions to reduce operating costs, increase productivity, maximise space and offer an elevated level of service. ADAPTO is part of Vanderlande's automated material handling solutions and the next logical step in flexible warehouse automation.

PICK@EASE: a range of value-added service functions for multipurpose use

ADAPTO is offered in combination with the highly ergonomic PICK@EASE workstations. The introduction of PICK@EASE to the market several years ago was proof of Vanderlande’s pioneering position within the industry.

Vanderlande commissioned a study – certified by TÜV Nord – in which the focus was on the end-user. The study looked into the influences and effects of different concepts on body movements and postures, muscle groups, circulation and mental aspects. The results of this study were then incorporated into Vanderlande’s goods-to-person picking systems. PICK@EASE workstations have been designed to cope with a range of functions and enable value-added services.

Fashion and e-commerce: AIRTRAX – the modular, flexible and convenient hanging goods concept

AIRTRAX is an innovative and reliable concept for transporting, sorting and storing hanging goods. Designed by a highly experienced team and based primarily on customer feedback, it offers unrivalled benefits throughout any hanging goods handling operation. This unique concept allows significant volumes of goods to be moved over long distances while coping with changing elevations and complex paths.

AIRTRAX is extremely modular by design. The system is a direct-drive concept that contains one base on to which all types of carrier modules are fitted. This is referred to as ‘Click & Go’. The concept consists of interchangeable modules that facilitate various functions, such as upgrading from manual to fully automatic high-speed sorting.

Each module is easy to install, service and modify. New and innovative carrier modules facilitate 2D and 3D movements so that existing warehouse capacity can be optimised. The new design allows sorting to both left and right exits. The one-base concept means only a low number of spare parts are required, as the same components can be used for several functions.

AIRTRAX is the very first 100% friction-driven concept in the market. It operates continuously and smoothly, with limited control requirements compared to traditional chain-driven systems. Maintenance for AIRTRAX components is very straightforward. As there are no chains to oil or grease, no dirt is transferred to the goods. This offers a consistently high level of presentation to retailers and consumers.

AIRTRAX is effective for high-frequency environments including: goods on hangers specifically developed for the fashion industry; and the pocket sorter solution suitable for handling returns in the e-commerce market.
