Merlo will attend Bauma 2016 with in impressively meaningful style. Located in the outside area 1008/3 with a high-impact stand communicating the company's high-tech content and the dynamic image of its products, Merlo will take the limelight at the event in Munich on the strength it having recently achieved the prestigious record of 100.000 telehandlers sold. This figure was reached in November 2015 and has already been signifi cantly bettered in the course of Merlo's daily search for new and ambitious targets.

Merlo celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014 - although the Cuneo-based company had already enrolled its name in the roll of honour of "historic Italian companies" since its operations actually began way back in 1911.

The history of Merlo telehandlers began in the 1980s and breaking through the 100,000 barrier of models build and sold is an aspect of vital importance in the new approach to "site work" which these machines ensured for sector operators. Merlo over time has become synonymous with telehandlers. This success was achieved thanks to Merlo's constant efforts as regards technological research that helped develop models with better performances, as well as introduce new standards in terms of safety and performance. This ceaseless research commitment will once again be highlighted during Bauma 2016, with the presentation of many new models.

Merlo at Bauma 2016: machines designed for the construction world

Merlo's attendance at Bauma 2016 will be distinguished by a determination to meet the real needs of the construction world. The new models awaiting visitors to the Merlo stand will range from rotary systems – that further improve current standards in terms of attainable heights and applied technology solutions - to stabilised models. The latter models adopt technological solutions that ensured the success and widespread use of “Made in Cuneo” telehandlers, with the modular setting found on all new models launched on the market. And much more. Hybrid technology will make an imposing debut even in the construction sector where, especially in tight spaces and urban centres, it is vital to ensure that redevelopment and new building sites have the least impact possible. Merlo telehandlers are designed for the construction world and the new frontiers that today's challenges demand in this specifi c production area.

Merlo Roto: the machines that defined market parameters

Telehandlers with rotary turrets were launched by Merlo in the early 1990s and quickly became one of the company's fl agship products. Boasting a great many patented technologies, the Merlo Roto range is still the landmark in the rotary sector. Merlo will present many innovations at the Bauma show alongside the technologies that made this range so great, starting with the MCSS safety system. 14 models, capacities from 3800 to 6000 kg, Lifting heights up to 30 metres

M.C.S.S. - Continuous control of stability invented by Merlo.

The ROTO handlers equipped with continuously rotary turret have a revolutionary computerised system for the constant control of the stability of the machine during the work phases. When the machines is operating on stabilisers, the MCSS–Merlo Continuous Slew Safety system measures and controls in real time the forces acting on each of the four stabiliser feet. The systems uses these values to calculate the overall centre of gravity position automatically and decide, depending on this position at each given time, whether or not stability conditions are assured. The calculation algorithm is valid regardless of the geometry of the layout of support on the ground. In this way, the operator can position the stabilisers depending on the operating needs with the assurance that the load diagram will be dynamically and automatically adapted to the choice made. The verifi cation of the stability of the machine is automatic and continuous, leaving the operator free to concentrate fully on the work phases.

Merlo stabilisers: handlers at the service of hire firms and building companies

Merlo will be presenting the evolution of the telescopic range with stabilisers. The new models will have Euro 3B engines in two versions: one 101 HP and a "basic" 75 HP version The 100 HP version will have the innovative M CDC stability control system which increases the operational safety of Merlo vehicles, indeed exceeding the requirements of the EN 15000 standard. The new "basic" range with 75 HP engine, on the other hand, was designed to meet the typical needs of the rental market. The models in this family have simple and intuitive controls and a higher speed than the previous models, which increases from 25 km/h to 35 km/h. 8 models, capacities from 3800 to 4000 kg, lifting heights up to 17 metres .

Merlo hybrid technology a vital ally for urban sites and tight spaces

For those working in tunnels, enclosed and tight spaces, under industrial sheds, in industrial plant or in urban centres, it is fundamental to reduce environmental impact in terms of gas emissions as well as noise impact. Merlo's range of hybrid telehandlers today is in the forefront of technology in this specifi c sector.

TF 38.10 TT hybrid – innovation

This is the new model with Merlo hybrid technology. The machine derives directly from the TF 42.7 Hybrid model thanks to the modular conception and raises the maximum lifting height up to the 10 meter class. Characteristics are entirely similar to those of Merlo's first hybrid telehandler and are unique on a world scale. The modular design means that the advantages inherent in the new range are also embodied in this machine.

Merlo's unique technologies: CVTRONIC, MCDC AND EPD

Merlo telehandlers incorporate unique technologies ensuring that they stand out in the current construction machinery market. These solutions make our machines unique and allow work in every operating context with high standards of safety and signifi cant fuel savings.

With the Merlo CDC system, safety is standard for everyone

Safety continues to be one of the primary objectives for Merlo and the M CDC, now standard on most of the Merlo range, introduces a completely new approach to the control of operating safety. The system identifi es the weight and the position of the load lifted and enters them in a virtual load diagram calculating the stability index. As the index increases, visual and acoustic signals warn the operator that the safety limit is approaching. Once this limit is reached, the system automatically prevents movements and allows the operator to restore safety parameters. The M CDC makes it possible for the telehandler to automatically recognise the equipment at the moment when it is hooked to the telehandler recalculating the safety parameters thereby guarantee maximum safety in every operation.

Eco Power Drive: high performances, maximization of performance and low cost of maintenance

The EPD system is covered by an international patent. It manages thermal engine rpm by separating them from the accelerator pedal with the aim of maximising performances and minimising consumption. Given these automatic conditions, the EPD system provides manual control of several parameters such as Transport & Tow aimed at achieving or maintaining the desired speed with minimum energy consumption, Heavy Load for maximum performance during special processes such as excavation or removal of snow. Namely, maximum torque to the wheels with minimum consumption and Inching for maximum precision of the movements. In addition, a second potentiometer is dedicated to the setting of the idle speed of the thermal useful, for example, to confer exactly 540 rev/min or 1000 rev/min to the PRO shaft to the benefi t of performance. Merlo is the only world manufacturer of telescopic handler that constitutes an effi cient and tangible solution to minimise energy consumption.

Merlo CVTronic: Merlo's own exclusive continuous variable transmission version fl uid and progressive acceleration without interruption of torque

The system, called Merlo CVTronic, has two hydrostatic engines with variable cylinder axial pistons that are powered by the load sensing hydrostatic pump aligned to the diesel engine. Both the engines operate together to offer the maximum torque possible in the range of speeds dedicated to handling and processing in the fi eld. Transposed, the second hydraulic engine connected to the transmission by a clutch is completely disconnected from the electronic control unit. The change is done automatically and without any interruptions of torque. If the vehicle has to tackle and steep slope, the second engine is automatically engaged to provide all the power needed to continue the climb.

Tre Emme: a trademark synonymous with special applications

The TreEmme trademark today is synonymous with special applications thanks to its production if equipment and multi-function tool carrier tractors. The range includes hundreds of items of equipment, from standard devices through to specifi cally developed applications meeting individual requirement in order to meet all the needs of every client. TreEmme's listening skills also take effective shape in the construction of a range of tool carrier tractors, where the MM 135MC model interprets Merlo's modular philosophy even in such a specifi c sector. This new machine comes forward as a multi-purpose solution for public maintenance work, mowing and snow clearance thanks to the possibility of mounting various kinds of accessory at the front, the rear and on the righthand side.
