New Ammann Roller Overcomes Challenging, Cohesive Materials

The new Ammann ARR 1575 Tier 4f Roller overcomes high moisture content in cohesive soils and clays while consuming less fuel than its predecessors.

The trench roller utilises a Yanmar 3TNV80F engine that meets the strictest emissions requirements in Europe and the U.S. The engine also provides excellent power and features reductions in noise and vibration.

Productivity can be improved with the use of extension kits that stretch drum widths from 640 mm to 850 mm. The adjustment can be completed quickly on the jobsite.

Trench rollers, also called multipurpose compactors, perform well in cohesive soil types, such as clays, that can be difficult to compact. The ARR 1575 is able to overcome the high moisture content in clays through its extreme compaction energy and the kneading effect of the padfoot drums.

The machine performs effectively and quickly on less challenging soils, too. The trench roller’s performance makes it productive in many applications, including pipeline construction; commercial, residential and industrial development; structure backfill work; confined workspaces; airport construction; electric and cable installation; dumpsite and landfill jobsites; and road sub-bases.

Key features of the new trench roller include:

The infrared system. It is perfectly positioned with no dead angles. Integrated solar panels charge the transmitter, eliminating one jobsite task.

Easy access to service points. The hood opens wide to help the crew and technicians reach the desired service points and components.

Effective vibratory system. A low centre of gravity ensures the compaction vibration reaches its target. Also enabling effectiveness are a circular vibrator and 2 amplitude settings.

Two steering cylinders. They enable powerful and fast articulation and help make the ARR 1575 responsive and precise.

Articulation joint with oscillation. The maintenance-free joint helps provide optimal ground contact and compaction results. The oscillation in the articulation joint also reduces the chances of tipping.

A skid-steered version of the machine, the Ammann ARR 1585 Tier 4f Roller, also was introduced. Ammann is the only manufacturer to still offer both articulated and skid-steer versions.
