New Big Joe models draw strong interest at Modex 2016

While a number of new equipment models for material handling were recently on display at Modex 2016 in Atlanta, two unique products from Big Joe really stood out in the crowd.

The Big Joe product showcase at Modex once again featured the ability to test drive several new machines on the show floor and drew strong interest from attendees.  In particular, the new J2 Joey low level order picker stopped many long time industry veterans and competitors alike in their tracks.  "The J2 was designed from the ground up to be different", said Bill Pedriana the Director of Sales & Marketing for Big Joe.  "With customers looking for a compact and nimble machine to service more pick faces low to the ground, we knew we had to come up with something different - especially for retailers.  It was cool to see how people reacted to it and what ideas they came up with regarding how it could help their operations, some of which we had not even thought of yet to be honest", continued Pedriana.

The J2 Joey, looks a bit like a typical class 2 order picker, however with no overhead guard, a width of only 34", the ability to drive forks first, and an ergonomic mini-mast it certainly did stand out at the show.  While many other companies displayed their newest versions of traditional products on carpeted floors, the Big Joe showcase really had a lot to offer those looking to do a lot with smaller machines and for those looking to get behind the wheel themselves a take a spin.

The other Big Joe unit that drew strong attention was the latest variant of the J1 Joey Task Support Vehicle that can now lift an operator to 190".  At that height, access to elevated tasks at waist level is improved to 20' while overhead work like changing lightbulbs or servicing overhead conveyors brings yet another dimension to the vehicle.   The J1 Joey is becoming well known in North America for its versatility lower to the ground for order picking, general maintenance and tugging duties.  Now with the improved lift height, the company expects the J1 Joey to expand into increasingly more facilities and will begin providing onsite factory demonstrations to show attendees starting next month.

Joining the new Joey models on display were the new Big Joe PDSR walkie reach truck and CB33 counterbalanced walkie stacker which feature power steering, as well as a number of small format electric pallet trucks, and a pedestrian tugger that will be launched later this year.
