New CEMOS Advisor App Helps to Optimise Use of Combine Harvesters via Smartphone

When operating a combine harvester, the operator can often remedy grain losses or rectify other problems by simply adjusting individual machine settings.

The new CEMOS Advisor app from CLAAS now supports the operator in this task. The app can be used on a smartphone and used with LEXION, TUCANO and AVERO series combine harvesters.

The CEMOS Advisor app works by making suggestions, i.e. guiding the operator to the best suited machine settings step by step. If the operator detects a problem during operation, having entered this into the app using a smart phone, they will receive a suggestion on how best to improve efficiency and output. In the case of high rotor losses, for example, this could be achieved by reducing the speed of the rotors. The operator then adjusts settings via the relevant controls in the cab and checks to see if the measure has been effective. If not, the app will then provide further suggestions.

The driver learns automatically

As a result, the Advisor app not only helps to optimise the performance of the combine harvester under the current harvesting conditions. The driver also benefits from the system because his knowledge and intuition regarding the effect of specific settings on the combine harvester is continually improved. When the combine settings have been successfully changed, they can be saved in the app and accessed at a later date.

The suggestions made by the app are based on the recommendations found in the machine manual, which can be directly implemented during practical use with the aid of the app. Since implementation occurs by means of a smartphone, there is no need for a terminal in the cab. This means that the Advisor app can be used with all CLAAS combine harvesters.

It is also very easy to estimate grain losses using the app. By entering various values, the driver can make accurate predictions regarding the percentage of losses and minimise these with the help of the app.

The CEMOS Advisor app is free of charge and is available to download from July 1st 2016 from the app store for iOS and Android operating systems.
