New Models on the Horizon

At bauma 2013, RUTHMANN presented the third model of its new and highly-successful HEIGHT performance series – the innovative STEIGER ® T 720. The German truck-mounted platform manufacturer also gave visitors a preview of exciting new models that are coming soon.

In August 2013, RUTHMANN will be adding a fourth model to its popular HEIGHT performance series. The new STEIGER ® T 380 – a truck-mounted platform with a 38 m working height – will be making its debut at that time.
There is a huge demand for the models in the HEIGHT performance series. Models in this new line of heavy machinery feature modular assembly design. Many parts on the new STEIGER ® T 380 will therefore resemble those found on the T 460 and T 540.

By using the modular system, RUTHMANN is able to lower costs while greatly increasing production and efficiency. Example: The extra-long upper boom and movable jib (RÜSSEL ®) featured on the first model in the HEIGHT performance series – the STEIGER ® T 460 – is identical to upper boom found on the STEIGER ® T 540 and the one that RUTHMANN will be using on the new STEIGER ® T 380.

This new boom concept not only provides great advantages at the job site but also offers other customer benefits. Standardizing components and assemblies of many different models, facilitates cost-effective repair and maintenance when it comes time to service the machinery.

RUTHMANN also announced that it is developing a modified version of the new STEIGER ® T 720. The brand new STEIGER ® T 630 is scheduled to arrive on the scene in the fall of 2013.

RUTHMANN’s global clientele will soon have access to heavy machinery in the 38 m, 46 m, 54 m, 63 m, and 72 m working height class. On all STEIGER ® models, RUTHMANN pays special attention to multi-chassis adaptability. Customers can choose from a huge variety of base vehicles to suit their own individual needs. Regardless of the type of truck or drivetrain required, RUTHMANN makes it possible. For non-European markets, the STEIGER ® manufacturer also offers kit versions of these innovative models.  The kit version consists of a pre-fabricated work platform and includes the boom system, base frame and outriggers. After completion, the kits are shipped to distant countries where they are mounted onto a customary truck chassis. STEIGER ® kits have already been delivered to China with great success.

RUTHMANN has even more innovations on the horizon. When the TBR 200 made its debut 3 years ago, it was the first 3.5 t truck-mounted work platform with a movable jib (RÜSSEL ®). In the summer of 2013, RUTHMANN is presenting a brand new development with a similar concept. The STEIGER ® TBR 220, also mounted onto a 3.5 t chassis with a movable jib (RÜSSEL ®) and market leading 22 m working height, will be capable of doing so much more than its predecessor. In addition to the bona fide 22 m working height and substantially greater lateral reach, there are other notable advantages. For one, the jib (RÜSSEL®, which has been extended by 40 cm, will feature a swivelling range of 185° – an incredible 80° more than on the TBR 200. The TBR 220 will also come equipped with an interchangeable working cage system. Operators can, for example, use the aluminum working cage or the synthetic cage, depending on the assignment. This is an ideal feature for rental companies who will now be able to rent the same work platform to tree cutters and to electricians, for example. Other features include the telescoping cylinder inside the telescopic system, as well as EURO 6 emission for worry-free operation. Other truck manufacturers will not be delivering 3.5 t - chassis trucks with EURO 6 emission standards until next year. These new base vehicles are considerably heavier than the current EURO 5 models. The reduced weight of the STEIGER ® TBR 220 superstructure offsets the heavier EURO 6 base vehicle on which it is mounted. The total weight of the unit will be less than 3.5 tons, as required.

These clear advantages are a direct result of RUTHMANN’s expertise in steel fabrication. The company strives to make continuous improvements to its fabrication techniques and methods. The STEIGER ® TBR 220 will have a multi-bevelled telescoping boom system, made of lightweight but very strong high-tech steel. Even the redesigned tower section is multi-bevelled for increased sturdiness. The tower is lightweight but torsional rigidity has been greatly enhanced. RUTHMANN patented this technology for the heavier models in its HEIGHT performance series.

The new STEIGER ® TBR 220 will combine maximum performance and state-of-the-art technology with traditional RUTHMANN reliability, durability, and efficiency.
