New York Build 2018, the leading construction and design expo in New York City and New York State, today announces more than 1,000 industry professionals will attend the Women in Construction networking event on March 19.

This popular gathering of construction and design industry experts is proudly supported by The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), along with many other female ambassadors from large construction and design firms. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the most influential women taking the construction world by storm and discuss what the future holds for women in the sector.

In addition to NAWIC, representatives from organizations such as the Professional Women in Construction National Association (PWC), Non-traditional Employment for Women (NEW), National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), and the Association of Women Construction Workers of America, Inc. (AWCWA) will be in attendance.

The Women in Construction event is a part of a larger effort to increase the number of women in the construction industry. Women currently comprise only nine percent of the construction industry’s workforce.

“Women are capable of doing every construction job out there. This industry is the last hold-out for gender parity in the workforce and one that we intend to change,” said Debra Inwald, founder of Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA), which provides construction management and owner’s representative services. “Through this event and continued efforts by agencies, institutions, corporations and private-public partnerships, women will have equal access to in-demand and highly compensated careers and be guaranteed safe work environments.”

The following day, on March 20th, attendees can take part in the New York Build M/WBE panel and networking event. The panel will discuss the challenges Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises encounter in the construction sector and efforts to address adversity.

In addition to these must-attend networking events, New York Build 2018 is the ideal opportunity to hear about all the latest construction projects in New York City and New York State.

World class architects, engineers, brokers, government agencies and developers and others are among some of the thousands of industry professionals keen to discover the next best thing to utilize and revolutionize how things are currently done in this sector. Whether a company is starting out or established, participation at this event will offer opportunities to rub shoulders with influencers and key players from the industry. Join us on March 19-20 at the Javits Center. Meet, network and succeed.
