A major project from the Friuli-based company as part of the construction of the new waste-to-energy plant in the Piedmont capital. Pilosio’s in-house technical design department developed custom made solutions to overcome the most complex building yard challenges.
Not only the supply of materials and equipment, but an in-house design department committed to the design of solutions to resolve the most difficult construction challenges: this is Pilosio’s signature in the project for the construction of the waste-to-energy plant of Turin, managed by the Emilia-based Company Coopsette and currently under construction.
It was a difficult job site since the very beginning, due to the considerable and ever evolving construction challenges. Combined to this there were also the tight deadlines in terms of design and equipment supply. Pilosio’s role consisted in the application of a P300 formworks system for casting walls 40 m high and 55 m long with beams to create all the vertical walls of the waste pit; beams which use allowed implementing 4 meter high walls very quickly. The cart model was used to allow maintaining the P300 panelling constantly in line with the beam system and thus move it as a single block for the subsequent higher stages.
The Friuli-based company supplied contrast beams combined with the P300 frameworks for the casting of all “single-face” walls of the waste pit, which, for design reasons, could not be implemented using the “double-face” system. With the MP scaffolding by Pilosio applied, it was possible to create approximately ten service stairs with steps in aluminum to access easily the work floors also at the significant height of 40 meters. Thus, the MP system was chosen to support a portion of the floors at a height of 22.50 m thanks to the flexibility of managing several dimensional compositions and due to the need to reach intrados with heights of approximately 25 meters. Thanks to the MP system it was also possible to resolve the issue of supporting significant concentrated loads. Six 11-meter tall towers were manufactured in order to support a concentrated load of approximately 130 tons per tower.
Pilosio’s technical department designed also another custom support structure using the MP system to build contrast struts. The need was to stabilize temporarily a free wall having a height of 17.5 meters up to the point of building the cover that would bind it. The contrast struts fastened on the only free walls of the floor stabilized the 1,000 sq.m wall from a height of over 22.5 meters up to a height of more than 40 meters. Using the T28 Tower system it was possible to support all floors with high capacity, but that had linear and simple dimensional characteristics.
PRODUCT FOCUS:
MP SCAFFOLDING SYSTEM
Pilosio’s MP multidirectional scaffolding system is a modern solution that industrializes the full flexibility of tube and joint scaffolding products. The special washer welded to the vertical uprights offers 4 orthogonal fastening ways for stringers and it has additional 4 slotted holes that allow fastening using variable angles in order to cover, almost entirely, 360 degrees.
In addition to the exceptional flexibility, the type of hooking system with wedge and washer is easy to lock and very quick during assembly and disassembly. Due to the characteristics of fast assembly, great modularity, extreme adaptability and high capacity, the MP multidirectional scaffolding system is Pilosio’s most flexible system and the one with the most applications for use also in the most complex situations. Applications for the MP system range from residential, industrial, restoration, naval, aeronautics, oil, entertainment, archaeological sectors all the way to bridges, viaducts and suspended and movable structures.
The MP can be used as facade scaffolding for maintenance and construction; scaffolding for no parking zone and interruption of uprights; loading towers; service stairs for job sites; high capacity structures for work at a height; very high capacity towers to sustain heavy weights at a height; suspended structures when it is impossible to start from the bottom; contrast systems; mobile towers on wheels or carts; stages; event structures and audio-video towers; warehouse structures and storage; bearing structures of all kinds to be lined with other material and stage sets.
MP SUPPORT STRUCTURES
Support structure manufactured using components of the MP multidirectional scaffolding system along with a series of special accessories for the reinforcement of slabs, beams or any other type of element installed at a height. Vertical elements and horizontal connections are constituted by the elements of the MP scaffolding. The availability of many different sizes of components allows creating structures of any size.
The square base tower 0.83x0.83 m or 1.15x1.15 m allows capacities up to 5 kN for each individual vertical upright for a total of 20 kN per tower. The extreme modularity of this type of structure allows overcoming any type of building yard challenge, both in terms of capacity and geometry. It is possible to increase the capacity by doubling the uprights, manufacture curved base structures, triangular base structures or structures with any other type of base shape to overcome obstacles and also create supports for applications with negative or positive slope.
By using adjustable bases or forks, the towers can be used also a temporary contrast to stabilize structures being built. In addition, it is also possible to combine to the structure service stairs to easily access high altitudes.
MP HIGH CAPACITY TOWERS
Tall support structures to reinforce slabs, beams or any other product installed at a height, manufactured using components of the MP multidirectional scaffolding system combined to a series of specific accessories. Each vertical element is constituted by 4 MP uprights connected to each other through a lower and upper structure.
The elements so constituted are connected four by four to create the tower. The capacity of the base module is 200 kN for each vertical element equivalent to 800 kN for the entire tower. It is possible to achieve higher capacities; however, it is necessary to double check it ahead of time with Pilosio’s Technical Department. To manufacture these high capacity support structures it is possible to use all standard components of the MP scaffolding combined to the lower and upper structures and to the adjusting screws. The vertical elements are constituted by 4 uprights having a center to center of 17x17 cm and that combine in towers or walls of various dimensions depending on the specific needs.
The great design flexibility and hold of the MP multidirectional scaffolding combined with various accessories allows creating any type of structure both to support horizontal structures and landing bases for the unloading of material as well as structures to support frameworks for high casting. Also in this case, using adjustable bases and forks, the towers can be used also as temporary contrast during works, in order to stabilize during the construction phase and to the structure it is possible to combine service stairs to reach various heights in full comfort.
